I like to talk football, and i say what i feel...So I figured I would try to put my money where my mouth is, and run a list of sleepers who I think will perform. Each week, I’ll be providing a player from each position that may not normally be a starter for any one team, but that will produce starter points in that week. So here is week ones list of players...Enjoy, and rip away.
Quarterback - Colt McCoy - Bengals @ Browns
230 Yards and 2 TDs, along with 30 Rush Yards and 1 TD
Face it the Bungles suck, they went the wrong direction in free agency this year, and a rookie QB in Cincy should prove for Cleveland to have good field position for a few turns of the ball. Cincy D has to account for Mr. Hillis and that’s more than enough for even guys like Robiskie to get open. Look for Little to play a big role for McCoy as the year rolls on. Plus, the Browns are at home...it’s the perfect storm.
Running Back – Beanie Wells – Carolina @ Arizona
110 Yards and 1 TD, along with 3 catches for 20 Receiving Yards
I’m a big fan of opportunity wins championships, and Beanie is one of those guys who will get the bulk of the carries, this and every week. He was going for cheap in drafts, up to just recently, and will pay off huge starting this week. Carolina, just like the Bengals, sucks. That Carolina D has to be one of the worst in the league. With a much better QB in Kolb for defenses to take seriously, and Fitzgerald a guy who can stretch the field...that proves great for Wells in making the most of his opportunities.
Wide Receiver – Lee Evans - Pittsburgh @ Baltimore
4 receptions for 90 Yards and 1 TD
It’s no secret that Pittsburgh has a great D, but I think with Lees Speed and Flaccos Cannon, Evans can get past the Pitt D for a deep one. I’m always a fan of players who are at home, especially during week one when they are on a new team. Evans is still a good WR, not sure if he can be counted on for week to week consistency, but he will get you a deep one here and there, your job is to catch the week he does it, and as I said, I think this week will be one of those weeks.
Tight End – Greg Olsen – Carolina @ Arizona
7 receptions for 70 Yards and 1 TD
Greg Olsen is a great pass catching tight end, and they will need one of those in Carolina, especially with a rookie QB and a horrible defense. Yeah, expect a lot of dump offs to Olsen as Cam attempts to move the ball. They will put a few up in the box to stop DeAngelo and Cams attempts to roll out. Plus, with how bad Carolinas gonna be losing, they will need to pass a lot. They call them a “security blanket” for a reason.
Kicker – Who cares, it’s a kicker...just make sure you start one.
Defense – Cleveland at home against Cincinnati
As I mentioned Earlier, I like home teams, and rookie QBs on the road on opening day don’t seem to work out to often. Cleveland will get some turnovers and should pressure Dalton into taking sacks and making bad moves which should not allow Cincy to score too many points. Also, with Benson being sore from his time with Bubba on the block, I don’t see him being a factor, especially with them needing to pass more then they wanna to catch up.
...But I’m prolly wrong. Enjoy Week 1 fellas, and good luck in your matchup!
