Just for fun mock draft (1 Viewer)

Even though we know at least a few trades will occur there are no trades speculated in this mock.

---------------------- March 12 mock -----------------------

===========================================

1. Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett, Edge, Texas A&M

Seems automatic at this point other than posturing.

2. San Francisco 49ers Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

They can't go into a season with Hoyer and Barkley, add that Mitchel 'might' be the best QB.

3. Chicago Bears Jonathan Allen, Defensive Interior, Alabama

They can go into the season with Glennon because they figure SF takes the top rated QB.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

The best RB prospect of the draft.

5. Tennessee Titans (from Los Angeles Rams) Jamal Adams, S, LSU

Just a solid pick.

6. New York Jets Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State

See above.

7. Los Angeles Chargers Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

If he didn't have arthritic shoulders he would go higher but too good to pass up at this point.

8. Carolina Panthers Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

Solid pick addressing area of need.

9. Cincinnati Bengals Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama

Would have gone higher if not for poor judgement getting him sent home from the Combine.

10. Buffalo Bills Solomon Thomas, Edge, Stanford

High upside, add that Kyle Williams has hinted at retirement and Marcel Darius is a knucklehead.

11. New Orleans Saints Derek Barnett, Edge, Tennessee

Solid value at area of need.

12. Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia Eagles) O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

Browns coaching staff worked Senior Bowl and liked OJ.

13. Arizona Cardinals Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan

The top rated WR

14. Philadelphia Eagles (from Minnesota Vikings) Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

Tempted to go WR but take second best CB from the draft.

15. Indianapolis Colts Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin

Need to protect the franchise.

16. Baltimore Ravens Taco Charlton, Edge, Michigan

Elvis has left the building and T-Sizzle isn't getting younger.

17. Washington Redskins John Ross, WR, Washington

Solid value at need area.

18. Tennessee Titans Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

See above.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Haason Reddick, LB, Temple

Combine darling, could go higher.

20. Denver Broncos Garett Bolles, OT, Utah

Three bell alarm dire need addressed.

21. Detroit Lions Malik McDowell, Defensive Interior, Michigan State

Nice value.

22. Miami Dolphins David Njoku, TE, Miami

Jordan Cameron retires, Phins address dire need.

23. New York Giants Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford

Good value here.

24. Oakland Raiders Teez Tabor, CB, Florida

Not an uber athlete but solid player.

25. Houston Texans Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

They admit the Brock mistake and take a QB but could go with Kizer or even Mahomes at this point.

26. Seattle Seahawks Forrest Lamp, G, Western Kentucky

Solid value at area of need.

27. Kansas City Chiefs DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame

Not sure about this one but it makes sense on many levels.

28. Dallas Cowboys Takkarist McKinley, DE/OLB, UCLA

Value at area of need.

29. Green Bay Packers Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan

May not be the best fit but he kept falling.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin

Late riser due to solid combine.

31. Atlanta Falcons Carl Lawson, DE/OLB, Auburn

I prefer Tim Williams upside but Lawson is also fills need.

32. New Orleans Saints Tim Williams, Edge, Alabama

Saints can gamble on upside after taking Barnett earlier giving super upside if they both hit.

Probably good enough to go in the first round but just missed the cut:
Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
Charles Harris, Edge, Missouri
Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida
Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU

Late injury slider:
:topcat:  Sidney Jones, CB, Washington

My Panthers would be fools to pass on Solomon Thomas.

Julius Peppers and Charles Johnson are senior citizens, and Star Lotulelei will not be back in 2018.

Taco Charlton so good he's gonna get drafted twice
   Good catch.  I thought I had too many pass rushers left on the board late.]

Will fix that mistake.

I had Solomon there but changed it at the last second because Cook had been rated near the top through the entire process but Thomas rose pretty quickly.  I went with the consistently higher rated player but you make a good case.

You're probably right, though.  My Panthers won't make the smart pick.

I like adams a lot but he no longer seems as automatic a pick after signing crypien, and Byard is good.  In a perfect world the Titans trade down from 5, add a 2nd and walk away with foster and either Mike Williams or Davis at 18.

If I were the Browns, I'd do that, or something similar.

Even though they need a QB, I don't see SF taking one at #2.  So many holes to fill and I think they go defense, either Allen or Thomas if they keep the pick.

Wouldn't surprised if they trade the pick if the haul is big enough but that would take somebody else falling in love with one of the QBs.

Good mock overall.  Thanks for the effort.

Damn, nice mock.  Covers team needs and usually BPA.  I doubt it happens this way just because teams usually go bat tihs the day of the draft, but this draft would help every team.

Do Lattimore AND Allen have arthritis in their shoulders?

That's what I was thinking.  I wonder if he got them mixed up?

Yeah, I was going to fact check that statement but was weary and didn't, my bad.

The point is that Lattimore rarely played full games due to an injury 'condition'.  The Bucks used multiple DBs just to keep him healthy/fresh and I'm sure durability will be an issue with whoever takes him in the NFL so I think he will fall a bit further than many expect.  He had a hip flexor injury during the Combine where it originally had falsely been reported that he had pulled a hammy and that sent off alarm bells through the NFL scouting community because he has had serious hamstring injuries in his past to the point he had surgery and missed a lot of time.

Lattimore started all 13 games in 2016. But the word "chronic" has been attached to his hamstring issue. Wildcard.

11:12 AM - 6 Mar 2017

I think that there is a health concern with Lattimore and that anyone who takes him will need to have a rotation in the defensive backfield ALA the Cardinals who have lots of bodies.  I'm not saying that he will fall that far but it is an ideal situation IMHO.

Impossible to figure out what the Bengals are doing these days.  I guess Foster is an option, but they wouldn't pass on Solomon Thomas if it fell like this.  There is also the option that we reach for a LT just because this oline is such a mess.

Im really hoping the browns or cardinals take kizer before the chiefs get him.  Andy reid will fix his footwork and theyll be an instant super bowl team.

He wouldn't start immediately.  But I do think KC is an ideal situation for him.

Y'know what I would think would be interesting with these mocks?  That the person putting them out there then does a first round mock rookie draft.

I mean, if you've gone to the not-so-small effort to do the NFL mock, the rookie mock should be a piece of cake.  No?

Assuming non idp that isn't difficult at all for the first few picks but then others who haven't been drafted become a factor. Although it can depend on league settings and maybe team need. Just taking the op"s mock: cook and Leonard are debatable but if cook goes top 10 (which I doubt) to the better team I'd take him over LF.

1. Carolina Panthers Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

2.Jacksonville Jaguars Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

3. Newyork Giants Christian McCaffrey, RB,Stanford

4. Arizona Cardinals Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan

5. Washington Redskins John Ross, WR, Washington

7. Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia Eagles) O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

8. Miami Dolphins David Njoku, TE, Miami

9*. Houston Texans Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

10. 49ers Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

11.KansasCity Chiefs DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame

The QBs would probably drop out of the first round after Mixon, hunt, Kamara, juju, etc are taken. Mixon might go 4th still.

Panthers' owner, Jerry Richardson, loathes off-field issues.

I do not believe he would let Gettleman draft Cook.

Unless Mixon freefalls in the draft or gets selected by a team with a young workhorse like Cards or Cowboys, Mixon needs to be a top 5 pick. If I like the spot, I might make Mixon 1.

Mixon to the Colts would be nice. Or GB.
I forget where I read it, but a GB scout told a reporter that Mixon won't make it to them.  Not sure if he implied their 2nd round pick or 1st, but it would be a bit surprising if he went in the 1st.

Probably wouldn't make the drive that far north.  :drive:

I'll post here because I don't know where else it would go, but why is there almost no hype for Tennessee WR Josh Malone? His vertical was poor, but his size, speed and SEC production all scream NFL.

Not sure why there should be a lot of hype.  I've seen him ranked anywhere from the 26th to 36th best WR prospect in the draft.  Projected around the 5th to 7th round.  He was productive but only had 50 catches last year.

My point is why is he WR 26-36 in rankings for the draft? He's 6-3, 208, ran a 4.40, 19.4 yards per catch, solid breakout age and I know his total stats aren't great but that's a symptom of the Vols offense. He led the team in catches, yards and TDs against the best competition in college football. Played Florida who have 2 NFL CBs and had 4 for 91 and TD. Malone was as good as any WR down the stretch. The final 5 games of the year he had 528 and 6.

Apparently all the experts feel there are that many WRs that are better than him.  I guess the question is, where do you feel he should be ranked?  I don't know anything about him other than looking at his college stats which are good, not great.

I don't know everything about all these guys. He just really stands out to me as I see tiny guys like Isaiah McKenzie and Ryan Switzer ahead of him, Darboh who was even less productive. Malone is definitely 1 trick pony- think Kenny Stills, but that's a very valuable trick. I am having a hard time finding many WRs who can make a case for being a better field stretcher than Malone.

Technically Darboh had the more productive college career but that's because he did more his two prior years.  If Malone stayed for his senior year then he'd have the better career.  Judging by Malone's average yards per catch it looks like he's either a big deep threat or he's really good at getting those yards after the catch.  Like I said, I've never watched him play before.

He's nothing special. You won't watch him and be blown away. Also, his vert was disappointing. What he is is a 6-3 guy that runs a 4.40. That size/speed combo allows him to win on deep balls. I would love to see the Lions give him a shot as it's exactly what their offense needs.

Nice Mock I know you did it a few weeks ago and but do you really feel Cook and Tabor are going this high still

GB doesn't need a safety. They have 2 amazing starters. Peppers does not transition well to CB. If anything he'd transition to OLB. I guess I wouldn't put it past Thompson to draft him and move him, then let him walk after 4 failed years. Seems like a classic Thompson move. In fact, now I am convinced they will draft Peppers.

In all seriousness... if GB is picking and has the chance to decide between Watt and Peppers, it'll be Watt.
