Just got tickets (1 Viewer)

I just got last minute tickets to the game, row 4 club seats. I am thinking about making a quick trip up there from Jacksonville with my 5yr old son. My son actually is a nut about football, I just found out he can name all 32teams. I am not loud or obnoxious fan however I am worried about the conduct of the locals especially around my son. I sure would hate to get beer dumped on me or somebody just go over the line and have to get in a fight. I have been to games in new England, Chicago, GB, Carolina & Tenn without a big incident other than the normal harrassment which we would be fine with. I am looking for some input whether it is a bad idea or good idea. I actually have family that lives in Reading..........Thanks

You won't have any problem. The new stadium seems to have brought a larger sense of decency to most fans. ( I guess that's possible). The only situation where you would run into difficulty would be if #1 you wore Jacksonville gear #2 the Eagles start to lose and #3 there is a large group of intoxicated fans sitting behind you. Unless those three things happen, I don't think you'd have any problem. Just don't bring any attention to yourself is the bottom line. (ie if Jacksonville scores, just do golf claps). Other than that, it's a great place to watch a game. I almost think the endzone screens are too big and I find myself watching those rather than the field. Also, since it looks like you have really good seats, you won't find many 700 level types down that close. The food is amazing and so is the stadium. You'll be fine if you go.

my :2cents:

Eagles fans get a worse rap than needed. If you don't be a ### to them, they won't bother you.
I think their rep is justified. They are a bunch of nut jobs!! Maybe they will let you pick the kind of beer that they dump on you.

Agreed!Your also in club seats, you and your son will be fine. If you want to feel the safest.....Don't wear the opponents jersey. I've been a season ticket holder for years and its not as nearly as bad as the media makes it to be.

:goodposting: The "700 Level" was were the problems usually were - which was the top part of the Vet.Don't worry, especially in Club seats. Enjoy the game - and let us know how it was.

If u wear a Jaguars jersey or something, u may get some verbal abuse as u walk by, but that is it. I was at The Eagles-Chargers game last year and those in the bolts jerseys just had some playful verbage thrown their way, nothing more. They (chargers fans)had some fun with it and all was good

whatever you do, don't wear your colors (Jaguars) or put any on your son. you WILL get hounded getting to your seats and the dregs of Philly won't have any issues dumping a beer on a 5 yr old.

trust me, I'm about 150 miles up the Turnpike from the "Stink" and the dregs at the Meadowlans aren't much better. I've been a season ticket holder for the Jets since '91 and have only taken my children to a game once. I've also been to the old "Vet" (700s) a few times in my colors and let's just say the Eagles fans can be pretty passionate about their team.

Have fun...

I live 5 mins from the Linc and have been going to Eagles games for 17 years now. Here's the summary.1. Your son will be fine. It's not like wearing a Bucky Dent jersey at Fenway before the 2004 season.2. Wearing non-Eagles jerseys are ok depending on a few things. Shouldn't be a Dallas, Wash, or NYG jersey. This isn't a prob for you. Why not just let your son wear his jersey over the jacket and yuo just wear a Jags hat or something if you're really worried.3. Don't make an ### of yourself by screaming things like, " Go Jags" after they score or are about to score. Don't stand up either to celebrate or root.4. Club seats are good. Great seat 5. The 200 level have more drunken morons than lower levels and much more than club seats. In summary, attending Eagles fans are no diff than 90% of other NFL games where fans are passionate.have fun, jaisonlinePS: I'm sick and tired of the Santa Clause snow ball story. My Eagles began to stunk after their great 1960 season. In the last game of the '68 season, the Eagles were winning at half time which prevented the team from getting first pick in the next draft, OJ Simpson. Fans tired of losing for so long so OJ. They were pissed so they took it out on a 19 yr old kid dressed as Santa. It was in poor taste.

I think you can't expect anyone to be on their P's and Q's at a football game just because you have your son with you. You should be prepared to hear profanity. If you can't handle your 5 year old hearing naughty words then you probably shouldn't take him.

I took my son to a Chiefs and Jags game here in KC. It was a pre-season game and I didn't have any problems. My biggest problem was keeping my son in his seat for 3 hours. Good luck with that!

sorry son. I've seen it happen. In Philly AND Jersey...
:bs: Post a link of a kid 5 or under getting a beer purposefully poured on them at the Linc, good luck.Beers are like $7 a pop now, you think us poor slobs in Philly are going to waste it on your brat?

Another thing you have going for you is that it is NOT a division game.
Exactly, I was at the Linc for the Skins and Eagles for the Skins to get in playoffs last year. I saw an Eagles fan take a REdskins fan and give him a swirly in the bathroom. Then in our seats we just happened to be right next to Portis's mom and family. Eagle fans found this out and starting harrassing them, they poured beer on them. Then the dad or Grandfather actually cursed and threw something on a fan. Mom's jersey had the 26 outlined in diamondsThe next thing you know security is up there and taking them out, every one is ragging them, singing, hey hey hey, Good bye! Next thing you know they are down on the sidelines looking up at us. Eagle fans can be brutal, but they want a reason! If you don't give them a reason they leave you alone. Great stadium to see a game! You will have fun!

As a Dallas fan who has attended the last 5 games in Philly, I can tell you as long as you don't act like an ### you'll be fine. Other than being a decent team to measure themselves against, Eagles fans probably could care less about a JV fan (unless they act like an ###). Expect some good natured jabs and a decent amount of obscentity (not necessarily at you, but at McNabb if he makes some bad throws, the Refs and JV players).

Enjoy the stadium and the ambience, great place to see a game.

Eagles season tickets have been in my family for over 40 years and with a few notable exceptions, the whole philly fan image is media driven. Sure, you'll hear plenty of obscenities and if you are wearing Jags gear, expect to be mildly taunted.

Other than that, as long as you're not loud and/or obnoxious, you will be fine. If there is a knucklehead in your section, you'll be able to pick him out right away. Just let the usher know to keep an eye on that guy right from the start. enjoy the game and get there early so you can walk around the pavillion area just outside the stadium (but inside the gates)

An Eagles fan comes to Tampa, stands throughout the game cursing and being a complete **** after repeatedly being asked to please sit down and watch his mouth because of some families close by. Now this Eagles fan goes about 230- 250 lbs, he gets the bright idea to headbutt a Tampa fan who is asking him to comply, the Tampa fan going about 190-200 lbs. The Tampa fan without hesitation repeatedly wears out the Eagles fans head with his fist, at one point pulling the Eagles fan shirt over his head like you see in hockey. I mean the Tampa fan can't miss, solid blow after solid blow. The Eagles fan emerges from inside his shirt with a bloody face and a nose that looks like it was hit with a sledge hammer just in time for security to boot his ### out leaving the Tampa fan still watching the game apologizing to the other Eagles fans for beating up their buddy. Man that was some kind of humorous justice.

ok, dude. you're right. my eyes were playing tricks on me. nothing like that ever happens at the Vet/Meadowlands. I've also never seen grown men launch raw potatoes from pvc tubing with compressed aerosol 100 yds away into the crowded parking lot or drive golf balls from the parking lot on to Rt #3 traffic or the half time crowd gathered around the rotunda hurling bottles at little kids scrambling for spare change at the bottom or have seen strippers coming out of the back of a Ryder truck after entertaining the boys. Let me know if you want to hear anymore BS stories.have fun at the games, punk...

This is actually amusing to me. Anybody that acts like this deserves something to put him in his place. And yes, I am an Eagles fan. Like most everyone has said here, you should be fine. You may be taunted a little but based on where you are sitting it should be humorous and not really mean spirited. Yes, you will hear curses, but hey...sons need to hear this stuff some time, right? Have a good time!PS. Getting out of the parking lot area by car takes a while after the games. Plan your flight home accordingly.

I didn't actually see this Lehigh, but you may remember it. It happened in Jersey, but you can't tell me things like this don't take place in Philly. Otherwise, why is Philly the only NFL stadium with an onsite courthouse? THESE are the kinds of stories that make the news at the Meadowlands. Sorta makes a 5 yr old getting a beer dumped on him look like a pile of Mickey Mouse #### huh? :bye:

The courthouse came and went with the Vet.

I was at a Colts/Eagles game about 3-4 years ago at the Vet sitting down low near midfield. I was proudly sporting my Colts jersey. Colts blew them out and I was obnoxious. I got VERY little grief. In fact, I'd say this was the best I have ever been treated as a visiting fan. The media has blown the Philly faithful way out of proportion. Add in the fact that you are with your son sitting in club seats and I doubt you even have a bad word spoken to you, let alone any of the other problems you are conerned about.

miss the vet...times changed at the linc kinda. Lots of people from south jeresy & outside the philly area go to the games. I do remember seeing my buddy on the front of the daily news in the middle of a brawl that happend opening day of a phillies game a few years ago though lol.but yea, tickets are too expensive to get thrown out at the linc. its not bad
