Just landed a deal and got Vlad (1 Viewer)

Ok I posted that I was ready to get hamels for mauer + morris. Well the hamels owner backed away and wanted power instead and was trying to work the Vlad owner. I swooped in and sent this owner(last in most all offensive categories) Howard and Rowand for vlad. Just to feel him out. Well he accepted this morning.

Never thought he would bite since the guy who offered him hamels for Vlad was his brother in law(he didnt need pitching).

Now the only thing that isnt going my way is that he is in last place. But he is there for a reason. He has no offense other than vlad. I sold Rowand high and he obviously thinks Howard can and will bounce back.

Is this trade THAT unfair. I gave up big potential in Howard and a consistent avg guy like rowand.

ETA: now the hamels owner is trying to work with me. I think I am going to keep vlad. What kind of a pitcher could I fetch for Mauer. Middle-high end that is not quite elite?

IMO the Vlad owner got a good deal here.
I am ok with that. Howard was frustrating for me(he probably got a great buy low) and Rowand was my worst OF. My OF went from holliday, byrnes, rowand and pence to holliday, byrnes, vlad and pence. To me that solidifies my OF as an elite group.

Agree. Howard and Vlad are equals in terms of power. Howard is starting to regain his swing after suffering from a leg injury. He'll put up 40+ HRs and hit over .300 when all is said and done.

Looking at Vlad, at best you have to hope he continues to hit at his current clip, but he really has nowhere to go but down. This owner did the sell high, buy low on you AND got you to throw in Rowand.

I'm just enjoying the irony of this response in a thread that was begun seeking help on arguments against the trade being unfair in his favor.

It is true but I think one thing stands out is the consistency between howard and vlad. I think someone looking for 40+ HRs from howard this year is going to have an uphill battle. His Ks are up and his avg is way down. I guess this was the perfect fit for both teams.

I think that's very wishful thinking. He's around .215 right now, that's a BIG climb to .300. I don't believe he has any shot at .300, and probably not at 40 hr's either. I'm guessing he finishes somewhere in the neighborhood of .265 and 30-35 hr's. And he got rid of Rowand at just the right time, he's slowly getting back to his career average and he should finish somewhere around .285. Great deal, IMO, to get Vlad for those two.

thanks for the vote of confidence, GB. I thought it was a no brainer. Vlad is consistently elite year in and out. I thought after howard came back and put a couple out, was the perfect time to ship him. I guy batting .218 now is not going to sniff .300 if his K:H ratio is 2:1

Why can't I have owners in our league like this in my league?

He's already up to .231 after his 3-5 tonight. So .300 isn't out of the question.Plus, barring another stint on the DL, from this point forward Howard will have more runs scored, HRs and RBIs than Vlad.EDIT: Plus Vlad is a career .326 hitter. He's hitting .357 now you don't think he'll regress to his norm?
