Justin Fargas (1 Viewer)

With Jordan aching, is it time to give Justin Fargas a shot? Guy's injury history is beyond maddening, but considering he has outperformed Jordan it seems, is it time to get him on your roster?

I just picked him up and I'm seriously considering starting him over Tatum Bell, who's toe is slowing him down. My other RB is Tomlinson, who basically performs well enough for 2 RB's, but still.

Am I reading too much into Fargas?

The time to buy was five months ago, when he had no value. Fargas is a decent talent with the potential to make some waves. His injury history is a major concern and he probably doesn't have the instincts to become a starting RB in the NFL, but he has shown flashes at various points in his pro career and his physical skills are among the best in the NFL. You could certainly do a lot worse off your WW, but I wouldn't break the bank to get Huggy Jr.

True, and he was a very cheap pickup. Does he present any upside after this season, though?

Possibly. You never know when a guy will jump out and surprise you. Rudi Johnson was in a very similar situation when he made his big break. Despite being a relatively high draft pick (4th round), Rudi did absolutely nothing during his first two seasons in the NFL. Then, in 2003, Corey Dillon got hurt. That opened the door for Rudi, but he didn't exactly explode out of the gate. His first three 15+ carry games:15 carries for 51 yards (3.4 YPC)20 carries for 69 yards (3.5 YPC)27 carries for 101 yards (3.7 YPC)That's not exactly mind-blowing stuff, but after another dud week, he then ripped off 43 carries for 182 yards and 22 carries for 165 yards. The rest is history. It's unlikely that Fargas will experience a similar emergence, but it's not out of the question. Rudi Johnson was a preseason rushing champ in one of his first few years in the league. Justin Fargas was preseason rushing champ during his rookie season. Both guys were relatively high draft picks (Fargas was late 3rd, Rudi was early 4th) who languished on the bench. Rudi took advantage of his opportunity. Fargas might do the same. I wouldn't bank on his success though. He's never been durable and he wasn't nearly as productive in college as Rudi was. However, if he can stay healthy and break off a few runs then you never know. Don't break the bank, but if you can get him as a throw-in or off waivers then he's definitely worth a look.

Buy? No.

Waiverwire? depends on your rosters size. Keep in mind as long as LaMont is healthy Fargas is not worth starting.

If thier was a "most fragile thread" Fargas might take the cake.
