I am aware that Tuck is going to be a rotational player for most of the season. However, he is the only player on the Giants to rack up a sack. What do you guys think of Mr. Tuck in a dynasty league? Strahan doesn't have much left in the tank and Osi is very injury prone.
Tuck is one player I'm just not sure about. He has some upside, but I just question whether he can become an elite DE or not. I also am one who believe Kiwanuka will eventually wind up back at DE in the future, which would hurt Tuck's value.
I think there will be a lot of varying opinions on Tuck.
The thing that concerns me is that they've shifted him to DT in the past. I could see them putting Kiwi back at DE and shifting Tuck inside.
If you have a league that splits out DTs, though, I'd definitely pick him up - you can see how he turns out at DE, and the biggest risk there becomes a bonus.
I took some heat for drafting him when I did but he clearly has a big future in the game. In fact, all the IDPs I drafted that year took 2-3 years to develop (Tuck, Ruud, Marlin Jackson, Atogwe).
He was ranked #15 among the defensive lineman in my league this year... he has value right now. Personally, I think the rotation helps him keep his motor high all game much like Trent Cole
I drafted him as a rookie, thinking he was the heir apparent to Strahan, but Strahan shows no signs of slowing down, and after they drafted Kiwi too I decided to dump him over a year ago. It's hard to read this stuff sometimes.
He seems to have a bit of value. Being a Giants , I've been high on him awhile and grabbed him in a couple of dynasties real cheap. (League minimum in one league). A lot of people have been asking me whether he's available, though I'm sure that's partially because I have him cheap.
One guy wants to give me Brooking for him straight up, a number of others have tried to work out deals around him.
I'm afraid that he be spliting between DE and DT.... Strahan most likely comes back next yr and so does Kiwi.It really depends if the GMen keep Mich or draft an LB replacement... if Kiwi gets moved back to LB, then Tuck will be playing more DE than DT.So next yr maybe a flop or Justin, FF wise, but the talent is there and if the opp ever arrises for him... I'll take a bite.
I wouldn't dwell on Spag's penchant for lining him up inside. He's shown the ability to pressure the passer up the gut. If you can get Tuck, grab him up quickly. Unlike Osi he's a pass rushing threat who can rack up tackles in the run game. Osi's speed rushing style typically takes him too far up the field to be a consistent tackler. I think Osi will still continue to lead the team in sacks but Tuck may be close enough to even it out with better tackle numbers.
