Keep STUD D in Your Playoff Lineup... (1 Viewer)

I've played the Ravens as my D all year and they've put up very nice numbers - a few weeks they actually won me my games. I've got a first round Bye this weekend but also have the Colts ready to plug in week #15 at home vs DET and week #16 @ JAC. The Ravens get PIT (at home) and @ DAL.

This is not a WDIS question, but I'm more interested how the sharks play this in general. Do you think that an entire D should be treated like a Stud RB or WR....in other words, "never bench your studs"?

Good question. I have the NYG D and although I think they will do well against the Eagles at home. ARI D against an inept Rams O is too enticing to pass up.

Defense is different because it's not one exact player, it's a group of players.

I play the matchups for defense. I mean if you can find whoever plays CLE the next 3 weeks, you're golden.

Tenn & Philly D's are surely gone but if you want to roll with Cincy D in your week 16 championship game.

Play your stud defenses in scoring systems that dont include yardage or points against.

Sacks and Turnovers are a product of individual effort and stud defenses have the types of players who will get theirs regardless of the matchup.

IMO

I just picked up the Colts to start in week 15. I have used the Vikes D all year, but if the Williams Wall is out, I do not trust that Defense against the Falcons or Cardinals.

I picked up the Colts for Weeks 14 & 15 (who needs an RB5 at this point), but I may still use the Ravens anyway. They're a threat to score a defensive TD every week, and Indy will be without leading tackler Gary Brackett the next couple weeks.

I'm personally rolling with my stud (TB @ Carolina) rather than playing the match ups (Oak @ SD)... that's not a static rule for me (even for skill positions)... but in this case I think it's right.

Pretend it's Week 7. Do what you've been doing all year. Don't get cute with it because you're in a playoff game.

same here. and agree about the DTs. Colts D could be $ the next 2 weeks (CLE/DET)other league sitting PHI @ NYG for the 9ers vs. Jets.

Very  Overthinking things is a sure way to lose your first playoff game. I'm rolling with NYJ rest of the season but they have good matchups anyway. I got them off the waiver wire a few weeks ago from someone overthinking matchups.

Too bad rolling with Cincy is such a stretch!

I tried the Jets D last week over the Steelers thinking the matchup would be better. I lost the game but it didn't really cos t me anything. In my other league I have the Giants and the Steelers. I have been swapping them out whenever it seems to make sense. It hasn't always worked out. I'm rolling with the Stellers in one leage and Giants in the other.

Anybody else roll with the Colts today? 5 sacks, 4 turnovers and a TD.Lions at home next.
Yup...I picked up the Colts specifically for week #16. However, I've got the Ravens and they're playing lights out - they've got the potential for a bunch of sacks and a few picks vs. Big Ben and the Stillers next week at home. Yes, I'll be pulling my hair out all week trying to decide this one....I suppose a good problem to have.
