Keeper advice for dynasty/keeper league (1 Viewer)

I am in a 12 team keeper/dynasty league. Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1flex. We can protect 9 players on our 20 man roster. Keepers are due 8/23. I am struggling/over-thinking it this year. My choices are:

J Love
D Maye
Bijan
Achane
Kamara
Pollard
MHJ
Devonta Smith
G Pickens
Rashee Rice
LaPorta

I know there are some obvious keepers listed, but what's the consensus for the remaining players?

FWIW, I have the 8th pick and was hoping to land Egbuka, Golden, or Tet. All the hyped rookies are going to be taken in the first round and there's no way one of the top backs will fall to me.

Thanks!

Edit: Adding that it's .5 ppr. Also to clarify that there is no penalty for keeping a player, and said player can be kept forever.

I assume there is no penalty (round lost, salary, etc) for keeping a player. I also assume you can keep a guy forever. If not, that could change the decision. Based on those two things here are my 9 keepers:

  • Bijan
  • Achane
  • one QB - whichever you prefer most. I probably go with Maye and his upside and then get a high floor QB in the draft
  • Kamara
  • MHI
  • Smith
  • Pickens
  • Rice
  • Laporta
So essentially I am dropping Pollard and a QB from that list.

I agree with letting one of the QBs go. You must be able to get a QB2 back at some point in the draft.

If Egbuka is your target in the first round, could you get Tyler Warren in the 2nd? Then pair him with Evan Engram / Zach Ertz later in the draft. If you think you could, I might let LaPorta go.

But Pollard is probably next on the list.

Can you trade before declaring keepers though? I wonder if you could package Kamara and a WR to someone to get a stud WR1. Not sure what that dynamic is like in this format

Appreciate the replies! I agree about keeping only one QB...my dilemma comes from that I'm still trying to replace Brees from when he retired. Even though I planned for life after him, I 've gone through Mariotta, Josh Rosen, Zach WIlson, Kenny PIcket, and several others I can't remember. All that being said, I will likely go with Maye and see who I can snag in the draft.

My 2nd concern is/was Kamara vs Pollard. Kamara's team is going to stink this year and he's reached that pivotal age. While I think Kamara is better, Pollard has been capable and would be a solid starter most weeks.

The last concern is Rice. His suspension hearing and potential games missed is nerve-wrecking. I've considered tossing him aside and keeping both Kamara and Pollard. That would necessitate my going after a WR in the 1st, as I don't have a true WR1. But...Rice was looking the part last year until Mahomes took him out.

I think at this point I am leaning towards Gally's suggestions.

Thanks again!

In a 1QB league, I wouldnt put too much emphasis on which guy you keep between Love and Maye. Neither of them go very high in single QB league drafts. If I was keeping one, it would probably be Maye, because of the potential untapped upside given his rushing production in college.

With Kamara, I also wouldn't worry too much about age since this is keeper and not dynasty. If he hits the age cliff this year, you let him go next year and keep Egbuka as part of your core moving forward. With the Saints reliance on him in the pass game, a down year for him could still be relatively close to Pollards fantasy output. With Bijan and Achane locked in as RB1 and RB2, I want upside with my RB3. And I think Kamaras upside is probably still higher this year.

I totally understand the concerns with Rice. I have him on a dynasty roster. But given his age, and his production early last year. Once the suspension is served, you are going to want him on your team, and he is going to be a locked in keeper for you going forward. It's a tough hold, but if you are flexing Kamara, you only need to start 2WRs, and I think you can get by with the guys you have plus Egbuka. Rice has too much long term value to not keep in my opinion.
