Keeper Draft Question (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
OK, we're entering the second season of my 4 man, non PPR keeper 12 team league. Everyone has protected their four guys and our draft is this Saturday.

So my question is for any others in a 4man keeper leagues, how does your draft work in the following drafts following he initial draft. Is it a snake draft throughout or does it goes 12-1, 12-1, 1-12....and snake from there on out?

Thanks for any replies...

I'm in a keep 6 which goes 12-1, 12-1, 1-12 ... and snakes from there. Long time league with good parity - and this tilts the chance for the losers to come back some but is not an overwhelming advantage. But our keep 6 already give the stronger teams more edge than your keep 4?

I have been in an 8 team keep 3 keeper league for 11+ years. We do a 1-8 8-1 snalke draft for 18 rounds. It used to be worst to first for the draft order until abour 5-6 years ago when we ran into issues with the teams that were basically out of the playoffs by mid season trying to tank games to lock up better draft position. We institued a draft lottery for the worst 4 teams and spots 6-8 go worst to first for the playoff teams. It has worked well.

On a side note we also instituted a trade cap that no more than 3 players from each team can be traded at one time to avoid mass player dumping right before the trade deadline by the teams who felt they were out of the playoff hunt -- that has worked well also

I'm in a 16 team 3 keeper league.

We have the first 2 rounds of the draft as a worst to first pick (with the non playoff teams picked from a lottery and they get reversed in the second round.)

Then for rounds 3 and beyond, it is like a total redraft with everyone getting a new random selection and a serp draft from there.

Start over like a redraft from here with picks drawn and then serpentine.

Seems to work well in that it gives some help to the lower teams, but dosn't punish the playoff teams too much.

Great advice..thanks.

Anymore? Love to hear it. Any kinda keper league yo're in..what's your draft order for the following drafts.

I'm love to compiling from research for my the guys in the league..

thanks again!

We just use a normal snake draft starting in reverse order from last year, worst to first.

Each owner gets 3 keepers, but players drafted in the first 3 rounds cannot be kept so most of the studs get thrown back into the pool in every year.

In order to curb tanking, I prefer either random draft order each season or....the team that comes in 12th place gets the 6th draft pick, 11th gets 5, etc...7th place would get #1 overall. Then on the back-end its 6th place gets 7 down to 1st place gets 12th pick.

I'm in a ten team 3 player keeper league. You can keep 3 players for 3 years, 1 player per position out of QB, RB, TE, K, D. You don't have to keep the same players for 3 years. We draft worse to first. We have a playoffs for the Super Bowl, and a playoffs for the toilet bowl. Whoever wins the toilet bowl has first pick the following year, and 2nd place in the toilet bowl has 2nd pick, etc. Our draft would goes as follows:

1st pick - toilet bowl winner

2nd pick - 2nd place in toilet bowl

3rd pick - 3rd " " "

4th pick - 4th " " "

5th pick - 6th place in playoffs

6th pick - 5th place in playoffs

7th pick - 4th " " "

8th pick - 3rd " " "

9th pick - 2nd " " "

10th pick - 1st place Super Bowl winner

11th pick - toilet bowl winner

12th pick - 2nd place toilet bowl, etc.
