Keeper Pool Management (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 12 team keeper pool - non playoff format - best record out of 17 games wins - total points as the tie breaker, top 3 in the money, bottom 3 in a draft lottery for first overall pick in upcoming draft. Each season end we must declare up to 10 keepers with a max point total of 1000pts. As of week 15 we are having certain teams throwing games in order to get a better draft position.... ANy suggestions on implementation of rules to prevent teams throwing games?

Base draft position on WINNING games... not throwing them. Maybe you guys should install a Playoff Format to solve this problem. Otherwise, you could split the teams into Top 6 / Bottom 6 and force the bottom teams to earn their picks based on wins and not losses. This would create a situation where the 4-13 team gets the 6th Pick and the 7-10 team gets the 1st pick. Tiebreaker could be the HIGHER points between teams... base ALL spots on most wins + points. Never award teams for losing.

My keeper league does the Losers Playoffs this way : (You need a Playoff Format to run this)

Our loser bracket (6 teams) consists of the bottom 2 seeds (#11 and #12) earning the week 14 BYE (aka Toilet Bowl). The remaining 4 teams battle for the 2nd RD. The 2 winners are ranked lowest vs lowest (if #7 and #9 advance = 9 vs 12 + 7 vs 11). The two 1st RD losers battle for 5th/6th Pick... the winner gets the higher pick. Rinse and repeat for ALL teams thru week 16.

This guarantees that ALL teams must keep fighting for draft position. There's nothing gained by throwing games... there's nothing worse than handing a team the #1 because they decided to bench their studs. Keep 'em fighting to the bitter end and award the winners the higher picks.

Week 16 would have the 2nd RD winners earning a shot at the top 2 picks. The 2nd RD losers would fight for 3rd/4th Pick...

The BYE guarantees the 2 lowest seeds (#11/#12) a Top 4 pick in the 2008 Draft.

It's worked for us...

To top it ALL off >>> we call it the "First Choice Playoffs" and allow these teams to CHOOSE their position from the Top 6 picks.

Starting in 2008, we've decided to allow ALL 12 teams to choose their position based on how they finish throughout the Playoffs. The Superbowl winner will get whatever pick is given to them. Basically, they aren't guaranteed the "swing pick"... someone else above them might want to pick from the 12th/13th Position.

We compile points in weeks 11-14 and base draft order for the non-playoff teams on total points, leading up to playoffs in weeks 15-17. Every team in the league, regardless of record, is motivated to win.

We do a "toilet bowl" for the first 4 picks for next year - but only those picks. Winner of that playoff gets 1.01.

The remaining rounds are order of finish.

Works well for us.
