Kerry Collins to Titans? (1 Viewer)

Kerry Collins...

1. Has thrown 21 or more TDs twice in his career.

2. WIll be an immobile QB behind a mediocre-to-bad Oline

3. Throwing to perhaps the worst set of WRs in the AFC

4. Without the benefit of camp to learn the playbook.

....and you think he's going to toss 21 TDs?

I'd say he'll go 1600 and 11 before he becomes Vince's backup for the next 3 seasons.

the whole point of bringing collins in is because they DONT want young to play this season. and nice stats, you didn't mention that collins has also thrown for 3,000 yards in 6 consecutive seasons.

would anyone like to throw out some projections for Collins?
3400/21picked up Collins already so maybe I'm just a little biased/hopeful.
Honestly, if he does that...
I know. But if he does start from week 1 and plays all year it's not out of the question.
Yeah, actually I think it is. He's thrown for 21 or more twice in his career. This guy started playing in 1995. He was 20/12 last year with the Raiders, and they threw a lot. Fisher has already said that he plans to run the ball as much as possible. And I reeeealllly don't think the Titans have the O-line to protect this guy.I find it hard to believe he's a better option than Volek, and I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he beats Volek out, or starts all season long.

So most projections had Volek somewhere around 3000 yards and 18 tds. And Collins is better than Volek. Yet he stands no chance of approaching those numbers?

Again, why is everyone so sure COllins is better than Volek? NOTHING excpet for going to one Pro Bowl and leading a team to the SUper Bowl substantiates that claim.

Positives: Quicker in his reads. Better arm. Better at the long ball.Negative: Not mobile.

I'm not 100% convinced that Collins will beat out Volek here. I am going to offer another take on this:

1. Vince Young is not ready yet and needs a lot of work from the coaching staff.

2. Volek also needs a lot of time from the coaching staff since he did not start last year.

3. Kerry Collins instantly gives the team another guy who knows this position (both as a mentor and a quasi-coach).

I see Volek as the #1. Collins as the #2. Vince as the #3 but getting some playing time during the season. Maybe I am blinded here, but I don't see why the Titans would go with Collins here. He might be better than Volek, but clearly is not the future. I think he has been brought in so that there is NO PRESSURE to get Young on the field this year if they don't feel he is ready.

updated info from PFT

POSTED 9:26 p.m. EDT, August 28, 2006COLLINS DEAL WORTH MORE THAN PREVIOUSLY REPORTEDEarlier today, a league source told us that new Titans quarterback Kerry Collins has signed a one-year deal worth $1.2 million. The source has now told us that the information was off. Just a bit.As it turns out, Collins' compensation includes a salary of $1.3 million and a roster bonus of $700,000. He's also eligible for incentives worth up to $1.5 million.Bottom line -- he wasn't signed to sit the bench. Unless he lays an egg in his first practice (or spits in someone's face), Collins will be the starter, and Billy Volek will be long gone come Week One.

By the way, over the last 6 years his per game average extrapolates to a 3800/20 season. 3400/21 would not be out of the question IF he plays 16 games.
