Kershaw has 1 hit & 13 Ks thru 7 innings (1 Viewer)

Tough managerial call. Young pitcher with over 100 pitches so far.

You KNOW he wants to stay in.

Out of the game and seems ok with it.

What an impressive start so far this year:

12 innings, 19 Ks, 3 hits, 2 Rs, 5 bb (the only weak spot, but he had only one tongiht) - 1.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP

Absolutely no way I'd leave him in. It's April, it's the Giants, and LA has capable guys in the pen.

It's a good night to have Kinsler, Cruz and Kershaw...

I agreee, but on the other hand, Kuo just gave up a 3 run homer to cost Kersh the win

Which has to suck for Kershaw, but at the same time, it's results-oriented thinking. A fresh Kuo has to be more effective than Kershaw 100 pitches in.

I do not agree with that at all. But I do appreciate Managers showing some restraint and not killing a kid's arm with over-use.

Sandoval's a switch-hitter who doesn't hit lefties very well, which means the options are Kershaw or Kuo. Then you have Aurilia ® and Rowand ®. Why put Kershaw out there for one hitter before going to a righty? Who else makes sense there? And it was actually Belisario ® who gave up the HR to Rowand ®. Maybe you could argue that another righty should've been in there, I'm not intimately familiar enough with LA's pen to really know.

I am not disagreeing with your strategy in general- but in this case.I do not agree with that at all. But I do appreciate Managers showing some restraint and not killing a kid's arm with over-use.

I was watching the game and Kershaw was not really tiring much, if any. He was still well into the 90s. The only hit/run he allowed was in the 1st inning. In my opinion, pulling him at theat stage to exploit a R/L matchup or go to a fresh releiver was a poor choice, but it does coincide with my opinion that young pitchers should be held in their pitch counts, esp. early in the season.(and yes it was Bellisario that gave up the HR after Kuo yielded back to back baserunners, but I do not think that detail matters much to what we are talking about).

You can't do that to him at that age. But it cost me a fantasy win! Torre you sum#####!
I have Kershaw in my main league, and we use QS instead of wins. :goodposting:And my opponent this week has Broxton, so things went down pretty well for me. :thumbup:I don't think leaving Kuo out there for Aurilia was a good idea. They should've brought in Wade or Belisario. Fun fact: Kuo's K/BB against lefties last year was 44/2 in 26 IP.

I've never understood pulling a guy in that situation. Why strictly go with the "starter-for-seven, set-up man, closer" playbook? He's been dominating and efficient- hell, he struck out the side in the 7th! It's not like he was working a high wire act the whole night, or was 140 pitches into the game.

I don't see why you roll the dice on two more guys coming in and being sharp in a one-run game. At least give him one more inning and then go to Broxton.

Because he's 21, a potential franchise arm, and it's April. Familiar with Dusty Baker's work with the Cubs?

A win and a pitch count in April are worth the same as they are in August. :goodposting:

But not April and October.
