How about Chicago fixes Midway before telling people what to do with their food.  That airport is trash.  I thought Chicago made good pizza?  What they served at Homerun Pizzaria was worse than the bottom barrel frozen crap.  $7.99 per and the size of a child's yamaka.  Trying to navigate your way through the human cholesterol of that airport is maddening and when you get to your gate, there's not even close to enough seating, so you're forced to sit on carpet that looks like it was re-purposed from a 70's porn theater.  For a city that prides itself on its food and hospitality, something needs to be done to improve that airport.  Way too many people, way too little choices for food and what choices you do find are met with maddeningly long lines and virtually nothing in the way of seating.  Big Red F- to Midway.

Never had a problem at Midway, but then again, I'm not marching an Albino Pride parade through there each time I use it.

Harry Callahan makes a one off joke in a 34 year old movie and for some reason people in Chicago act like it was passed down from Moses coming down from the mountain. Even though Dirty Harry was from San Francisco!

sorry we can't all have an airport as awesome as PDX. was really stupid that they got rid of Potbelly and Mannys and Superdawg there over time. I don't disagree the food options pretty much suck, but they just made some big changes that were supposed to improve things.

in fairness though, this is the cheaper 2nd airport for Chicago. O'Hare is where the big bucks go. Great food options there.

Hot dogs barely qualify as food, and we re debating what toppings are acceptable.

I consider yellow mustard to be pretty vile, so if that is all they have I will add ketchup.  Otherwise I will go with only brown/dijon/stoneground mustard.

If we are talking higher quality sausages I will skip yellow mustard and ketchup altogether and just go with a high quality mustard.

ketchup and mustard.

Prefer both as a base then topped with chili sauce, finely diced onions and shredded cheese ...maybe throw on a sport pepper.

I've never understood this type of food snobbery. A hot dog is not some delicacy that will be tarnished by adding ketchup. and LOL at the Chicago people getting all  high and mighty-- you can run your dog through a veggie garden but heaven forbid I put a little ketchup on mine. GTFO
Ketchup is a hell of a condiment !!!!!

Since I'm not TSA pre-approved, I'm still spending a good 2 hours there before any departure.
Look, if I'm by myself, I can wait out any amount of time so long as I can sit at a bar.  But when you're with a family of kids, including two year old twins, two hours is an eternity that can't be spent hiding away on a bar stool.  Where are we supposed to go?  What are we supposed to do?   The choices for us at 9pm on a Tuesday night were incredibly limited.  We settled for Homerun Pizzaria which was just about the only thing open and even then, they were getting ready to close.  On top of having horrendous pizza, their beer selection was:  Bud Light, Blue Moon, Stella.  $10 each.  That's an awful trifecta.  And again, you get into the asss-end of the terminal where they have 6 gates jammed together and you're sitting on the floor.  I don't need every airport to be PDX, but my god, there's not enough money/interest to upgrade the seating at the very least?

On the other hand, Flint's Bishop Airport is a dream.  Clean, modern, great options, plenty of seating.  Will never fly out of or into DTW again.  Flint, well done.

So  whats up with almost 40%  say hell yes to the tomatoey sugary greatness on a dog....and another 28% say maybe....indicating  the willingness to admit grudgingly that  its good (at least in limited situations)  Yet the  vast majority of the thread posts are either  negative towards this condiment greatness  or people afraid to come out of the proverbial Ketchup closet.  I say...stand up fellow ketchuponhotdogsaholics!!!!   The  can take my Ketchup bottle when they pry if from my cold dead fingers!  !!!

hot dog nazis are pretty scary I guess. it appears us ketchup eaters are the silent majority.

saw a cop in downtown Chicago on a Segway today. didn't seem all that happy though since it was raining.

Squeaky wheels are a minority of all wheels.

Costco still has the best hot dog value in CA. $1.50 plus a soft drink is hard to beat.
1/4lb Costco all beef dogs are great. I used to get the polish sausage (same $1.50 price tag) but they discontinued them and serve only hot dogs now.

I usually go for deli mustard + Relish + fresh onion from that hand crank thing. Tasty as hell.

They got rid of the Polish Dog?????  WHY?

That made my annual pilgrimage to Costco tolerable.

When?

I got one at the local Costco probably within the last two months. And, around here anyway, they seemed to sell better than the regular hot dogs.
menus at individual costco's change from time to time. I think they switched to brats, but thought they went back. Maybe I'm wrong.

The company had a contract with Costco so that they could keep the price of the hot dog and polish combo to only $1.50. as Costco grew so did the maker of these products. they had to take out loans to buy more machines and hire more workers which rose their productivity. everything was great up until their operating costs grew to a point that Costco did not want to have to increase the cost of the product that they make for people.

Costco decided that it was better to put the company out of business than to agree on a cost increase.

Now Costco is making it's own hot dogs and have switched to a Brat instead of a Polish.

I just went on a fact finding mission to our local Costco. It is two miles away and it was lunch time, so I had a $1.50 Polish dog and soft drink combo.

So I guess they eliminated the Polish in just some markets. Add that to the list of reasons why I don't want to live in Memphis.

Oh, and on the Polish I had kraut, onions, deli mustard and, in honor of this thread, ketchup.

That's a long list!

I miss a Costco polish. Attaboy.
