Kevin Jones is unlikely to be ready for Week 1 (1 Viewer)

I don't want to sound like a KJ cheerleader, but the guy has talent. Yes, he's had his fair share of injuries, but does that mean it's time to give up on him? I just don't think so. Freddy Taylor had a bad spell with injuries in his career, but was able to continue to rehab and play quality football.I might be crazy (and I can see the contrarian point of view) but I don't see the point of trying to trade KJ now for little value, when he potentially could be a very solid back if he could stay healthy (big if).
There's no doubt KJ has been prone to some serious injury issues throughout his career. I agree though that this may be the worst time to trade him. Hardly anyone believes in him anymore. Yet he has shown that he can produce at an elite RB level when healthy. It would be difficult to find a guy with a higher ceiling as your 4th RB. As KJ owners we just have to hope the Fred Taylor example is the way this thing plays out. First four seasons:Kevin Jones:46 games started 4073 total yards from scrimmage with 27 TDsFred Taylor:36 games started 4227 total yards from scrimmage with 37 TDs.Fred then played the next 46 games in a row and has only missed 8 games in the last six years. Posting 8751 yards from scrimmage and 32 TDs. KJ's averages obviously aren't as impressive as Fred Taylors in their first four years. Lets not forget that KJ has had Mike Martz and Steve (I love RBBC) Mariucci running his offenses.
I don't think we can really compare KJ to Fred Taylor when it comes to talent or injuries. First, Fred Taylor has shown more talent and is one of the great RB's of the last decade. Second, Taylor was injury prone but KJ's injuries have been of the much more serious variety (torn ACL, Lisfranc, etc). I like KJ, but I think the Lions would be wise to look at other options at this point.
What you THINK is interesting, but the FACTS do not support it.First, you claim Taylor has "shown more talent and is one of the great RB's of the last decade." That Taylor is one of the great backs of the decade is true, but after four years in the NFL no one would have predicted it. As for being more talented, how do you measure that? If we look at total yards by the two backs in the first four years in the NFL they are almost identical: Fred Taylor = 4227 all purpose yardsKevin Jones = 4075As for Taylor not having a serious injury, the tendon connecting his leg to his groin was torn and that is a very serious injury. It is too early to know if KJ's career will rebound the way Taylor's did, but they are very similar at this point.

People recover and play the next year from ACL's, this isnt the 80's.
