Kevin Kolb on trading block? (1 Viewer)

The talk is they will honor his contract and he is still the future in Philly. If a trade does come, it will not be during this season for sure. However lots of promises are made and broken pretty regular in the NFL. Seems that Philly is on the excessive side of the average.
How's your bud handling it? Did he get the sense Andy wasn't behind him from the start?
The unofficial word from Hugh Douglas that Kolb has regressed since the preseason game against the Chiefs. They blitzed the bejesus out of him & he wilted; missing reads, bailing even when he has time, throwing off his back foot, forcing the ball into coverage. He hasn't stopped doing it since. Part of it is understandable because the offensive line is hot trash. The simple difference is, Vick has stood tall and delivered the ball in the face of a relentless pass rush and Kolb is no longer doing that. Reid may actually not be full of crap when he says the benching is part of Kolb's maturation process. You put him out there with those speed bumps in front of him & the poor habits he's recently developed may no longer be correctable.

So what do you do with Kolb? If a trade isn't looking likely, is he even worth rostering?
Yes. He's one Mike Vick injury/bad start/dead dog away from being a viable fantasy starter.
If you have small rosters then okay cut him. But if you can afford to roster him you need to do it. I think he'll have the job back by week 10. Or Vick will play so well we'll know by week 6 to cut him then. But cutting Kolb after Vick has one great game against the Lions is foolish.
im in redraft and i cut him at halftime of the first game. certainly dont regret it

He was the analyst for every Eagles preseason game & remains a frequent visitor to the facility.

Worst contract in the league.

He's what he showed last year in Philly. Mistake prone, weak armed checkdown artist that retreats at no pressure.

Where are all the Philly nuthuggers now?

What's worse is he's actuallly been much worse than his garbage #s show

This thread needs to be resurrected for the Cardinals' sake.
I think that, in hindsight, the hype before last season was overdone. I think the expectation was that since he sat for a couple seasons and was on a god team that somehow he would be on the same career path as Aaron Rodgers. Those expectations came down a bit when he was traded - I think most people ranked him between QB17 and QB23 preseason. The hype from last year, however, may have carried over real world expectations that he somehow would turn the Cards in to contenders by himself. Taking a look from a distance, however, I think people may be judging him a bit harshly. He had virtually no time to work with his receivers and that is showing in the fact that he's throwing more interceptions then he should. He's been sacked 18 times and fumbled 6 in 7 games - that is an indication that he's either holding the ball too long or that the line is not doing a good job. He's completing a 57.8% of his passes, which is below average. That said, the Minnesota game (where he threw 42 times, only completing 21) pulls that average down. There are some nice signs though - he throws the ball deep a LOT (or at least he benefits from big plays). 16% of his completions have come more then 20 yards downfield (Rodgers 15.7%, Brees 13%). He doesn't show any hesitation in throwing deep, which means a bad day can turn in to a good fantasy day in a single throw (like yesterday even though that was a shorter throw). Despite their poor record, the Cardinals running game has improved which should be a good thing for him overall. And even though yesterday wasn't a GREAT game, per se, he certainly looked better then he had in a month (which can be attributed to an extra week of practice). So, what am I trying to say? I think it's too early to know if he'll be a good quarterback or a bad quarterback. The Cardinals are paying him enough that we're likely to get at least two more years after this one to find out, and with Larry Fitzgerald on board I think he's a nice person to hang on to in Dynasty. Put another way, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if he morphs in to a 4000 yard, 30 Touchdown QB. I also wouldn't be shocked if he is a 3000 yard, 22 TD quarterback, Todd Haley gets sacked next year, and Kolb never serves as much more then a low end QB2.

So which is Philly? A "Dream" team or a "God" team?

I have to admit I was never sold on Kolb. I figured he would be an upgrade over what Arizona had last year, and would put up pretty good numbers thanks to Fitzgerald, but he hasn't. Can't say I am shocked.
