Key stuck in deadbolt and won't turn. How do I get this thing out (1 Viewer)

I thought that if I took the look off, then I'd be able to somehow pop it out, but no such luck. What do I do here?

Maybe that keypad lock isn't such bad idea after all . . .

I read online that I could possibly spray some lubricant in there, but others say not to because it can mess up the lock. I suppose that there is a decent change it will have to be replaced anyway, so might not matter.

Biggest issue right now it securing it for tonight.

Also, it turns and locks from the inside, just not outside.

I was considering the WD40, but I was nervous based on a few things online that say it is bad for the lock. I thought there should be some mechanism inside the lock to get it out.

Might be worth the WD40 to get it to lock tonight and then can work on it tomorrow, and take to a locksmith. Cheap enough to replace anyway.

I do wish that I hadn't used the term "let's call a spade a spade" in front of the black locksmith earlier today.
We had a lame marketing lady at work, and recently switched to a new one who's great. Multiple people have said the difference was like night and day, then realized in horror that the old marketing lady was black and the new one is white.

Is it a family heirloom? Lube that #### up and get your key out. Replace lock tomorrow.

My great grandfather stole it from a Nazi soldier after bayonetting him to death.

I did end up using the WD40 and it worked perectly.

It seems like there are some locksmiths online adamantly against WD40 and others who are totally in favor of it.

whatever you do, under no circustances should you put WD-40 on it.
Honestly, you're gonna want to clean that thing out as best you can now. The "wetness" of the WD-40 is going to cause your lock pins and the cylinder to collect whatever gunk and dirt it comes in contact with (dust, wood shavings from the door hole, etc) and it'll stick like glue and eventually gunk up your lock.

If you ever have this happen in the future, get some dry graphite lubricant and use that.

I did read a lot about the graphite vs. WD40 and find mixed opinions. this guy says no problem: http://www.brunswicklocksmith.com/locksmith/wd-40-facts-and-myths/

We're going to get it taken care of one way or the other. should probably be replaced.

This is actually all a ploy to sell more keyless entry systems.

Graphite powder...

Edit: NM should have completely read the thread ;)
