J/k - i apreciate the heads up. This looks real nice. But if we are talking about your own island I'm guessing it's going to be on the expensive side. You are in the FFA guy.Probably should have asked about budget before suggesting.http://www.littlepalmisland.com/Researching.....Forget Key West...go to Little Palm Island.I was actually thinking that as I typed.
Take a look at Pier House We had our wedding reception on their pier and stayed there on our wedding night.OK so the best I could come up with is The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. South side of Duval Street on the beach.
I can't find that island on google maps, wth?http://www.littlepalmisland.com/Researching.....Forget Key West...go to Little Palm Island.
The ferry to get on is on Little Torch Key. The island itself is between Little Torch and Big Pine. Look south.I can't find that island on google maps, wth?http://www.littlepalmisland.com/Researching.....Forget Key West...go to Little Palm Island.
I've stayed at the Reach. Nice place - nice rooms. The location is odd as it's on the opposite end of Duval from the action. It's walkable but not convenient.OK so the best I could come up with is The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. South side of Duval Street on the beach.

Depending on where you stay, if you're looking for a cool pool to hang out in, go to Dante's Key West. Tiki Bar at some resort, I forget the name of it, but they let us hang out there all day and use the pool/facilities, they just expect you to buy some food/drinks. We didn't disappoint them on that front. This thread has what you need....
Thanks for the help with tthis everyone. I'm going to file this one away. I ended up geting a tw night cruise to the Bahamas. Its a neat and tidy trip over a weekend and we dont have to worry about food or hotel and it leaves right down the street from us. I'm looking forward to the KW trip, but I want to do it from more then just a night or two.Depending on where you stay, if you're looking for a cool pool to hang out in, go to Dante's Key West. Dante's Key West
If memory serves, their bar, the Chart Room, is very small, but has a very cool vibe and free popcorn all the time in one of those movie theater popping machines. It's awesome at about 2 AM when you realize you've had 18 beers and 10 shots and nothing to eat in 12 hours. That's the only time popcorn tastes as good as it smells.Trip to Key West happening in May. Apparently we'll be staying at the Pier House. Anyone have any experience there? It's been a few years since I've visited. What's new? Anything noteworthy that has changed or popped up?
We had our wedding reception on their pier. It was pretty cool. It's a nice place, though I think it's overpriced personally. The food is decent but it's very easy to find better. We spent most of our time at the tiki type bar on the pier when we weren't out and about.Trip to Key West happening in May. Apparently we'll be staying at the Pier House. There really are some amazing happy hour deals in KW, especially for those that like seafood. The last time I was in KW I stayed at the Reach Resort way on the other end of Duval. It will be nice staying a bit closer to the action this time around. This will definitely be a "lay by the pool during the day and head out for happy hour" kind of trip with a bunch of buddies. Can't wait. You can eat once a day during happy hour and not need much else the rest of the day. Tons of happy hours with a lot of specials, most of them within walking distance of each other.
Blue Heaven is phenomenal. At Blue Heaven this morning. Surf and Turf Benedict is a wonderful thing.

the south end of Duval is more "low key".. lots of inns and guesthouses, and you are only a 15-20 minute walk to downtown/ Mallory Sq areaNever been down there. Now I am thinking about planning a trip for October. Any suggestions on low key places to stay for a couple in their 40s?
I think that pretty much describes the whole area.Never been down there. Now I am thinking about planning a trip for October. Any suggestions on low key places to stay for a couple in their 40s?
Gotcha. I had this vision of a bunch of drunk 20 somethings pissing in the poolsI think that pretty much describes the whole area.Never been down there. Now I am thinking about planning a trip for October. Any suggestions on low key places to stay for a couple in their 40s?
Only during Fantasy Fest really. 3:15 AM at Sloppy Joe's, you're liable to see some drunken ###holes like me and my friends whooping it up, but in general it's not Bourbon Street or Collins Ave, it's more like a tailgate at a Jimmy Buffett show.Gotcha. This is an awesome area. Was just thereWe rented a place in the Truman Annex. It was pretty much perfect. Easy access to everything by foot. A quick search of VRBO looks like we were in this condo complex, though the unit we were in was a little nicer/more modern than that specific one. Great, great location imo.
They have a ferry that goes between the Tampa area and Key West. Not sure exactly where on the west coast of FL it docks, but it exists.I moved to West Palm Beach 4 years ago. Every time I got to plans weekend away we end up in Orlando because of my daughter combined with a 2.5 hour drive vs a 4.5 hour drive to key west.
I wish they had a boat that would be a ferry.
