Kitna this week (1 Viewer)

Jon Kitna, QB DETNews: With Damien Woody (foot) lost for the '06 season and the Lions trying to make do without left guard Ross Verba (hamstring) and right tackle Rex Tucker (knee), QB Jon Kitna is expected to have trouble when he faces a tough Buffalo defense in Week 6. "We're scrambling right now. I mean, we're a beat-up team," QB Jon Kitna said. "We're scrambling right now but nobody gives a crap. We've got to find a way to win."
Despite that fact, FBG cheatlist put him in the top 10 QB list for this week. What's the deal with the o-line? Is he really a top 10 QB ?TIA.

Kitna might put up some decent stats, but if your league penalizes for interceptions and turnovers he can cost you nearly half the points he generates.

Somewhat related to this, I think (hope) that the Buffalo Bills are the sneaky defensive play this week.

Throwing or not, I don't like him this week at all. I was surprised at how highly he was ranked in the cheatsheet as well.

Week Pts Opponent Comp Att Yds TD Int Att Yds TD Fum Lost

1 9 vs Seahawks 21 37 229 0 0

2 15 at Bears 23 30 230 0 1 1 1 1

3 21 vs Packers 25 40 342 2 1 5 18 0

4 17 at Rams 29 43 280 2 2 1 1

5 16 at Vikings 23 42 225 1 3 1 8 1 1

He has had an increase in his INTs and fumbles the last 2-3 games. In my main league an INT is only -1 so it doesn't hurt too badly and as of today Kitna is #5 overall QB so far.

With that being said, I am starting Rex Grossman as usual. I just picked Kitna up off waivers as he was dropped last week.

-2 points for turnovers in my league, and Kitna is still the #8 QB. However, I wonder how long it will last. As the Lions continue to lose, and Kitna continues to cost his team chances to win with costly turnovers, I can't imagine it will be too long before they see what McCown can do.

I have a bye week this week so I need to start either

Kitna

Plummer

Pennington (on waivers)

Right now I think Kitna is the best play out of those guys. We don't get penalty for turnovers so Kitna is a top 5 QB.

Hasn't Detroit played without 2 of the 3 guys missing this week all year? Didn't the injury to the other olineman happen in the first quarter? Kitna still put up good stats last week vs. a much better Minny team, on the road no less.

the guy was trying to finish the game last weekend without roy williams or kevin jones.

was he horrible? yes.

but the guy throws it early and often and he is like second in the NFL in yardage.

despite the terrible turnovers, he is one of the highest scoring QBs in my league and i am throwing him out there as my QB as long as he is starting.

mostly because i drafted warner, but still...i believe in the martz system and i sort of believe in kitna. if mccown gets put in eventually, fine. i will make a switch myself.

It is what it is said:
I have said it before and I will say it again....AFC/NFC matchups are usually among the higher scoring games. The lack of familiarity between teams almost always favors the offense.
Good point. But I think that Losman is a better option than Kitna..

I think the bigger head scratcher is K Jones making the top ten. I know the Bills rush D hasn't been good, but with half the Detroit O line out, I just can't see it.

2 of the OLmen out have been out. It's just Woody new this week IIRC. He's not that good anyway.

Yes- Losman is the play in this game- not Kitna.

K Jones is yet to have a 20 carry game, and is even averaging less than 20 touches per game....at 19.4. If he's a top ten, there are very few viable #2 RB's in the NFL for FF purposes. To answer my own question.... there ARE very few viable #2 RB's so far this year. Having said that, I still don't know if I should go Portis/Betts or Portis/K Jones this week. Of I had LT/Turner, I'd be thinking the same way.

The truth is, as lousy as Jones has been, he's still listed as a top 6 to top 12 RB in all of my leagues, obviously scoring system dependent. That's some slim pickins.
