If you paid attention to anything outside of New England and Indianapolis hype, you probably heard the statement or what most people heard as the prediction Kitna made about the Detroit Lions winning 10 games this season prior to the start of the season.
If you heard it on the radio, what was really said was that any team should be disappointed in not winning 10 games in a season and that it should basically be everyone's goal to achieve that.
However, what came out of that by the media was basically Kitna predicting that the Lions would win 10 games this season. I did a quick search and didn't see a poll done on this prior to the season, because it would be VERY interesting to see the percentage of NO votes. I'm guessing at least 80 percent would have been NO and I would have loved to have read my own comments because no way in I ever would have thought the Lions would get 10 wins.
But, they are now 6-2 and after going to the Lions, Broncos game this past Sunday, I have to say I am impressed. I am impressed at the way the defense is playing and I'm impressed with how the Lions are now running the ball. We all know they were heading into this season with a solid passing game but the reason the Lions have a shot at 10 wins and something that's not talked about in Detroit are the playoffs is their defense.
Remaining schedule:
@ Arizona (Arizona's home record is 2-1)
Home vs. New York Giants (Maybe the hottest team in the NFC)
Home vs. Green Bay (Green Bay is undefeated on the road and Farve's record in Detroit, amazing)
@ Minnesota (Detroit beat Minnesota in overtime at home earlier)
Home vs. Dallas (Dallas undefeated on the road)
@ San Diego (May be a must win game for San Diego)
Home vs. Kansas City (Maybe their easier game left)
@ Green Bay (Wow, that could be a big game)
You don't see Indy or NE on their schedule but that's really not that easy of a schedule. There are a lot of important games left for the Lions and I'm just wondering what people think, will they get 10 wins? They only have to go 4-4 to do it with their remaining schedule but games like @ Arizona are sometimes easy to say are wins when they sometimes end up into 3 point losses.
Thoughts?
