Koren Robinson in trouble again... (1 Viewer)

i actually thought he might be a decent sleeper this year and come close to his 2002 season (78/1240/5td). now he's looking at a year off :bag:

the business sentence...

"Robinson, 26, is in his second season with the Vikings, and he faces a potential yearlong suspension from the NFL because of past substance abuse issues."

news falls soewhere between mildly surprised & expected... he seemed to be doing better, but maybe where there was smoke there was fire with recent rumor/miscommunication with agent about him being in rehab... or robinson calling it a tune-up?

bump up troy williamson & travis taylor...

a shame because he might have done well in that offense, he was clear WR1 unlike SEA where for most of his tenure he was second fiddle to darrell jackson...

Hey, we've all risked millions of dollars and fame for a few drinks haven't we? #######....

i don't think the league does anything in the way of suspension until it works its way through the legal system... in case of leonard little two years ago on eve of draft, he was arrested for DUI but case was delayed until after the season.

little refused the breathalyzer & actually got off due to some irregularities with how the arresting officer administered the tests (i think)...

i don't recall if it mentioned whether a breathalyzer was used (i don't think it did) or if he failed field sobriety tests... i'm pretty sure robinson has been not only arrested on the charge but convicted before (the guy is such a hardcase he got busted for being drunk when he showed up to do his jail time... for, you guessed it, drunk driving)... another one would probably trigger a year suspension, it sounds like...

Weren't they just saying on MNF how he claimed to have his life back together? He carried around some "yellow envelope" that contained notes from all his AA meetings? Pretty sad irony.

:sadbanana: :kicksrock:

Let's hope he gets his life back on track and put his FF importance on the back burner.
In some respect I agree with you, but this is a Fantasy Football forum, so that's going to be the focus of discussion. That being said, it's sad to see guys like KRob, and to an even greater extent Clarett, waste chance after chance with the tremendous opportunities that they've worked to be given. Here's hoping that KRob can someday pull it together.

I believe it was ESPN I was watching. They were commenting on how he was going back to his AA meetings, not b/c he was drinking, but to remind himself why he wasn't drinking. Maybe it was the former afterall.

Koren Robinson is under supervised probation. Just getting arrested, regardless of conviction, may violate the terms of that probation and send him to the slammer IIRC ...

I dont do much criminal law ...

Koren Robinson pleads guilty on DUI charge

NFL.com wire reports

KIRKLAND, Wash. (July 18, 2005) -- Former Seattle Seahawks receiver Koren Robinson pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence, and was ordered to spend one day in jail.

Kirkland Municipal Court Judge Albert Raines sentenced Robinson to one year in jail with 364 days suspended. He must serve 24 months of supervised probation and use an ignition interlock device for one year. He was also fined $2,137 and had his license suspended for 90 days.

A second charge of reckless driving was dismissed.

"I hope you spend the day reflecting on what is ahead of you rather than what is behind you," Raines told Robinson.

Robinson, 25, was arrested on May 6 in the Seattle suburb of Medina following a traffic stop. Court papers said Robinson had a blood-alcohol level of .191. He originally pleaded innocent to charges of reckless and drunken driving.

Robinson was the ninth overall pick of the Seahawks in the 2001 draft. His best season was 2002, when he had 78 receptions for 1,240 yards, the only Seattle receiver other than Hall of Famer Steve Largent to record a 1,200-yard season.

His production subsequently declined, with 39 receptions for 536 yards in 2003 and 31 receptions for 495 yards last season. He was released by the team on June 2 after totaling 213 receptions for 3,167 yards and 12 touchdowns in 57 games with Seattle.

Last season, Robinson was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse rules, and he agreed to enter alcohol abuse treatment earlier this year.

Sorry guys...I broke two of my cardinal drafting rules in the Interboard Challenge just a couple of days ago.

1) Never draft anyone with a drug or alcohol problem.

2) Never draft anyone from NCState.

This was destined to happen.

I guess you'll never draft Torry Holt then either.

Rumor was he wack in rehab this summer. I wouldn't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. It's sad to see people piss away their talent.

He was going 105 MPH which makes this offense a Felony. He must have been so faded that he did not know what was going on. I feel bad for the guy, but damn....... How can HE make this mistake again? This makes Troy Williamson a decent #2 WR this year!

105 MPH! WOW!

This dude has a serious problem.

Is it 100% that he is not going to play this year?

Everyone is talking like that, but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere...

Is this a given pretty much?

He was arrested for DWI, this puts him at level 4 in substance abuse policy - see Ricky. He was suspended for 4 games last year, next step is one year gone.Of course he will appeal, but he is done.

Why not hire a driver
:goodposting: I never seem to understand how athletes continue to get in trouble. If I was as rich as these guys, I would have a house like Disney, and a bar that goes on for miles. I wouldn't ever want to leave.

My buddy in the last two weeks of an ongoing draft has taken Greenway, Robinson, and Lee Suggs. That's probably onlyinteresting to me. Sorry.

With the history the guy has, you roll the dice when you draft him. Just consider one thing: Whenever a guy is in rehab, ALL the talk is about how he's getting it together, his teammates ALL say he's a new man, and on and on. When have you ever heard some jerky in a TV booth say: "Well, So and So is undergoing treatment, but I've heard it's not taking. He was down at the CrazyGirls last night doing blow with a stripper named Sienna...."

You never hear that. And I'll tell you, a lot of these guys know this stuff. I'll bet every teammate of Koren, and most of the beat guys knew he was still drinking. You can't print it, tho, it becomes slander.

Not 100% sure, but I believe that at certain level alcohol is a part of the testing program. The issue could be as simple as he has alcohol in his bloodstream.

As someone who recently acquired Troy Williamson in a number of dynasties for CHEAP, I am:

:pickle:

Looks like I might be getting an earlier return on my gamble than I thought.

Shame about Koren though.

Its really a shame that this guy can't get it together. He has the talent just seems he can't deal with the pressure and turned to the bottle.

Twin Cities radio is reporting that Robinson was chased for 10 miles after the intial attempt to stop him. The St.Peter police chief (where the crime occurred) believes Robinson will be charged with the DUI as well as a felony crime of running from the police.

Kornen is still sitting in jail.

Who do we bump up? Are Williamson or Taylor worth picking up? Which would you prefer?
Taylor.
:goodposting: I am a long time Williamson supporter, but Brad Johnson is a seasoned veteran and Travis Taylor has been around long enough to know the ins-and-outs of being a receiver.
I'm not sure how Brad Johnson being a seasoned veteran gives any advatage to Taylor. I happen to think Williamson has a big time advantage here. Williamson showed good chemistry with Johnson out of the gates last year, and they had good timing together, presumable from when they praticed on the second team together. They've now been working together all spring training as well with 1st team reps. I like Williamson's chances. If I was a betting man, I'd give Taylor an edge as more likely to reach a 800 and 5 TDs level (Williamson granted has a higher chance of doing zero), but if I'm looking for a guy with a chance to get to a 1100+ and almost double digit TDs, Williamson is the guy here. Taylor just doesn't have upside to be anything more than a rare spot fantasy start. Williamsons big play potential gives him FF potential.

Reghardless of his legal situation, he is done. His previous underachieving was written off to alcoholism. If the league lets him back in, he will just keep drinking. THats the nature of the disease. KRob's NFL career is over.

Yikes! The Vikes will no doubt release him given their new get tough policy. He has likely played his last down in the NFL.

I would not be surprised if the Vikings themselves, before the league takes action, either suspend him or cut him.

I would, if I was that new owner and after last year's legal fiascos.

From a fantasy perspective, I agree with this.
