Newly acquired DT from Carolina signs a new deal

Per Roto world:

Kris Jenkins' five-year contract with the Jets is actually for $30.25 million. It includes a $4.5 million signing bonus.

It was initially reported as a $35 million pact with $20 million in bonuses, but only $9.5 million (his total 2008 take) is guaranteed. Jenkins will be weighed ten times per season and paid $25,000 each time he makes his weight. The NY Daily News reports Jenkins finished last year weighing 390 pounds.

With Jenkins gone, and Peppers getting older..Rucker contemplating retirement. Do any Panther fans have any info on the rookie from last year Charles Johnson?Jene, I'd love to hear what you know of/have heard of this kid. I remember him being talked about early last year as a possible replacement for Rucker and/or peppers, but dont ever recall seeing

him play.

Any info would be great.

If you play with the search function windows a bit, you can probably find all sorts of information that Chaos Commish posted on Johnson this time last year -- he had a man crush on him.Plenty of potential with Anderson. He's got the size and a scouting report that reads like a two way, every down DE prospect -- similar to Charles Grant. He fell behind McClover last year and unless you're a stud ST player, you aren't dressing as the 5th end (behind Peppers, Rucker, McClover and swingman Damione Lewis) so he got very little playing time. Neither he nor McClover ended up booting Mike Rucker from the lineup last year after Rucker made a near miraculous recovery from a knee injury in 2006. Those two will fight to start opposite Peppers again this year.

I haven't heard much about his progress. OTAs will tell the tale with him. Certainly worth stashing though.
