Looking to get my son interested. He's in 7th grade. Looks like a lot of fun. Does anybody have any kids that play? How good an experience/sport is it? I don't know how hard to push him into participating - if I got good feedback regarding the game, I would push harder.

I played in HS and a liittle in college. Great sport.

Up north it's more of a pure/finesse sport. Down south it's more of a bunch of rednecks trying to hit each other as hard as possible. Good comraderie and as Jamny mentioned, it's less competitive as far as scholarships go.

That said I'm not sure you want to "push" your son in any particular direction. Why don't you let him play a few sports and decide for himself which he wants to stick to?
