Lamar Miller-The next great Miami RB into the NFL (1 Viewer)

he's a first-rounder, and most see him as the second best RB in this class behind Trent Richardson (provided both decide to go pro).

I think he comes out. there's enough film on him, scouts love his versatility and ability as a receiver out of the backfield.

Richardson is the only back worthy of a top 10 pick, Miller likely goes somewhere from 18-25 IMHO.

http://nfldraftscout.com currently has him as the 39th overall draft eligible player.
So much for being a 1st round pick as he goes in the 4th round
That post is from October.Hard to hold anybody to that.

reminds me more of a Tatum Bell than a Terrell Davis who was mentioned a few posts up.
:goodposting: With how well Bush played last year, it seems like drafting a 2 down who's useless on goal line plays is just unnecessary given their WR needs.
He's not useless at the gl and he can be a 3 down back. Bush only had a 2 year deal and they have to try and sign Jake Long to an extension which is seeming more and more unlikely with martin being drafted. Miller is 5"11' 215 lbs, ideal build for an NFL RB, he could add a couple pounds and probably will but he has really good speed, Miami needs these types right now. He is going to get touches.
Well Mayock was saying he didn't play in goal line or 3rd down situations at Miami, and if he can't do it in the ACC, I can't imagine him being able to do it in the AFC East. No doubt he's still young and can develop, but asking someone who didn't play in goal line or 3rd down situations in college to be a full time 3 down back is just asking for way too much.

the Tatum Bell thing isn't really a shot at Miller, either. He just reminds me of Bell...who was a high 2nd round pick and had very good straight-line speed, but wasn't an incredibly dynamic RB and never became an every-down player. Rushed for 1k in a Shanahan ZBS system.
Bell is a fair comparison, though I think Miller is better (blocking and receiving). The only major knock I have on Miller is that he doesn't have great lateral agility. However, the Dolphins are implementing a ZBS which is suited for Miller. If he can get through a hole he has the moves to bust open big plays. I do think he'll get pulled at the GL though so it limits his upside. Still, he can be a good RB2 for fantasy so he could be good value in the late 2nd of rookie drafts.

Are you doubting MOPE's assessment of a running back?

I don't see him as a GL back, but simply saying he can't be a receiver in the NFL because he wasn't asked to do it much isn't good analysis. Miller looked good catching the ball when he had the opportunity. ADP turned out to be a nice receiving back but if you judged him by his college stats you would have assumed he was terrible at it.

Unless there's something seriously wrong with his shoulder, steal.

Yea, he needs to learn the game more but you can't teach his skill set. Given the fragile nature of the RB's on the roster he's going to get on the field sometime this season. Make some plays then carve out a role for him in 2013.
