Lamar miller vs Ronnie hillman (1 Viewer)

Miller has Daniel thomas and Reggie bush in front of him, hillman has mcgahee.

Who is more talented? Who will be a better nfl back?

Go!

I think that Miller has more talent. The reason his draft stock dipped so much was concern over the health of his knees I believe. Hillman is not without skill though. For the next three seasons, the guy you'd probably rather have is Hillman when you consider his competition and the offense he plays in. Reggie Bush, however, will be a free agent after this season and we could (should?) see Miller take over his role. It is just unclear as to what that role is at this point and what it will be worth given Miami's lack of talent on offense. We could see Miller as a late bloomer and better player in the long term.

Everything I read said Miller dropped due to a shoulder injury. I haven't seen anything about his knees. He was fairly consistently ranked as the #3 or #4 rookie RB behind Richardson and Martin and maybe Wilson. Hillman wasn't as highly regarded until he got draft by Denver.

Not crazy about either. Miller has more speed. Hillman is more elusive.

Neither has great bulk or power.

Short term Hillman obviously has better prospects. He has a clear path to playing time. Long term I'd probably rather gamble on Miller.

Wouldn't be terribly if surprised if they're both worthless in three years though.

Hillman for me. I think Miami stinks and wont move the ball like Denver. Denver has a better supporting cast at nearly every position.

I could see Miami losing an average of 10 games the next few seasons and Miller being a leftover that the next regime may or may not keep.

It will be interesting to see what both of these guys do in the preseason, which I think will go a long way in determining their individual values in 2012. Hillman has a hammy issue now do he hasn't been practicing. Miller by all accounts has been lighting it up in the first week of camp. Plus he will be featured on hard Knicks starting on Tuesday. My guess is that he shoots up draft boards bc of that. If he lights it up in a few preseason games I think Sherman will find a way to get him involved in the offiense.

Hillman seems to have an easier path to immediate impact but bush is also fairly injury prone and is not a 300 carry back.

I just don't understand how miller could fall that far from a shoulder injury that he played through and played through well in college. Matt Walkman thinks he is a better rb prospect than David Wilson in his rookie scouting report.

Reasons that Miller could be better:

[*]Miller injured his shoulder in September, but played through it. He had 184 yards rushing against Ohio State and 166 against Va Tech. The shoulder injury may have held him back.

[*]Miller should be returning kick-offs, I think Hillman is in the competition to be a return guy. Miller only returned 15 kick-offs in college, but one was a TD against Ohio State.

[*]The coaches have said Miller will be split out as a slot WR at times - he's a good receiver , but reportedly not a good pass blocker. However, Philbin said he's impressed with Miller's blocking (source: Brian Biggane's blog).

[*]He's a little bigger and faster than Hillman.

[*]Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas are injury prone

[*]Manning is immobile, so pass protection is even more important in Denver than Miami.

Both Hillman and Miller are auditioning for 2013 when Reggie Bush and McGahee's contracts expire.

FYI hate to burst your hype train on Hillman, but Moreno is ahead of him on the depth chart this season.
Do you really expect that to last? Right now the depth charts are meaningless, especially for rookies. Let's see where they are When the reg season starts.

Yes, in speaking with Denvef fans from Denver, Moreno will be the clear backup all season long, pending injury. Moreno, along with his strong blocking ability is seen as a perfect fit for this offense.

Don't know where you're hearing this. Everything I've heard has Moreno fighting for a roster spot.

Perfect plus he's one of the worst backs in the NFL, always hurt and coming off a major knee injury last year. Possible breakout?

Well it should be a little easier for him now, with the Fannin injury.

In a west coast offense Lamar Miller can be an elite all purpose back. He has elite top end speed, agility and can take it to the house from anywhere on the field. He also can catch, and once he get's in space he is deadly.

Lamar played with a bum shoulder last season for the Canes and had a nice season. He is a player to watch and draft and store on your dynasty bench.

I don't know much about Hillman.

Anybody else notice Hillman getting more significant work this past weekend? Nothing spectacular yet, but it's something to keep an eye on.

I live and work about 2 miles from Bronco traing camp (Dove Valley) and have watched many practices. I know this sounds crazy, but Hillman reminds me of Walter with his vision , moves and elusivness. He will be a very good, but not complete rb until he improves his rush blocking. Bronco's need to protect Manning at all costs. Hillman will pick it by mid-season or Lance Ball will be the # 2 and 3rd down back this year. It's all up to how Hillman develops in pass protection. The kid is shifty and can flat out scoot, he just needs to learn how to protect Manning. Mc Gahee cannot hold up for 300 rushes. Hillman or Ball will be # 2. Moreno is an afterthought to the coaching staff. He had and blew his chances. Fumblitis is his problem along with ballet dancing instead of hitting the hole. I can't speak about Miller, but I do have him on my bench as a pre-emptive pick-up.
