Laminectomy - anyone every had one? (1 Viewer)

Have back problems...probably like others here have or had.

Have been scheduled for a laminectomy in a couple weeks.

Has anyone here ever had one?  I've looked at things on-line about it but really haven't been able to get a feel for what it's actually like, and the recovery period, to experience this procedure.

Any all help would be appreciated!

Yes 15 years ago..for 6-8 months I had  tremendous lower back pain..then then pain starting shooting down my leg.  Could not get in and out of a car..coughing or sneezing was excruciating. End up I had a ruptured L5.   Had surgery on Good Friday.  The day after the only pain I has was surgical pain and that was way less than the pain I had before. The pain going down by leg and lower back was gone.  By summer or about 3 months I was close to 100%.

My only suggestion is to have exhausted all of the other less invasive options. Spinal Fusions and Laminectomies are no joke / they're often not a cure-all.
