Welcome to a top 15 RB ranking Lamont! He will do very well in the offense next year.Hate to see him go as a Jet fan but just solidified my RB corp: Curtis, D Davis and Lamont is looking like a nice threesome!

Here's the story: ESPN Link

Already basking in the glow of their trade for Randy Moss, the Oakland Raiders later on Wednesday delivered on their promise to bolster their backfield.LaMont Jordan, the top free-agent available at running back, agreed in principle Wednesday on a five-year deal worth $27.5 million.Contract terms will be finalized Thursday."We have a deal in principle that he should sign tomorrow morning -- 99.9 percent sure he will be a Raider," Jordan's agent, Alvin Keels, told The Associated Press in an e-mail Wednesday night. The deal is considered a blockbuster. Jordan will receive about $17.8 million in guarantees over the first three years of the contract, including a $7 million signing bonus. He had an offer of more than $3 million a year to stay with the Jets. The 24-year-old Jordan, who backed up Curtis Martin for four seasons in New York but has yearned to be a full-time player, rushed for 479 yards on 93 carries last season and has career average of 4.9 yards per carry. At 5 feet 10 and 230 pounds, he is the big, physical back the Raiders had sought. The addition of Jordan coincided with the Raiders' release of veteran running back Tyrone Wheatley. Ddefensive tackle John Parrella also was released.
Things are looking up!!

Until he actually does anything worthwhile for a fantaasy team, you really have nothing to brag about.I projected Lamont's stats and still stand by them. Top 15 RB? LOL you wish.

The Raiders had the least amount of yards as a team last year. With Moss maybe coming, I fail to see how Lamont will get more carries. Even with Lamont there, they will still be sharing some carries a little.

Keep getting your hopes up though. Welcome to the RB mess in Oakland Lamont.

What exactly are you telling anyone? No one disputed he would be signed by someone. I dispute the fact that he will ive up to people's expectations (ie Top 15 RB)

I have been in debates for the last several weeks about L.Jordan and his worth and how he is going to sign somewhere and be the starter next season; that is in reference to my last post diesel.

Are you serious??? Do you really think they would sign him to that type of contract for him to go in there and split carries with those other rb's. :loco: A couple of those rb's will be looking for jobs really soon. Also, a solid young offensive line in Oakland with Wr and a team that will throw the ball deep says hello great fantasy season for L.Jordan. I predicted with starter touches this guy will be a top 10 back and I will hold true to my word.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would've argued that Lamont wasn't going to end up starting somewhere. That was more or less a given. Glad to see it was with Oakland though.

Moss is there. It has officially been anounced. Why do you think it is a RB mess in Oakland? Wheatley has already been cut. I doubt that they Zereoue will still be there come opening day.... So it is just Fargas and Jordan. Pretty sure he will get a decent number of carries under Turner. And with the offensive line that the Raiders are putting together, it will probably be a pretty good year for him.

Now I am not going to jump up and say he is going to be in the top 10 or 15 fantasy RBs just yet, as there is a lot more off-season to go through (and the deal isn't even official yet)... However I don't see how this situation is a 'mess'??

I am very pleased, to say the least. We may not stop anyone on defense, but make no mistake about it... opposing defensive coordinators will have many sleepless nights.

A HUGE  to Al.

With Moss and Porter on the outside, Norv turners philosophy of pounding his RB the only thing stopping Jordan from being a solid #2 rb would be a injury. Dont have to worry about him and his 233 pound rear getting pulled at the goal line either. Raiders will be a fun team to watch this year.

Basic FF101 here frenzy:With Moss and Porter on the field and Curry likely the #3WR, Defenses will HAVE to respect the passing Offense. That leads to no 8 man fronts for ANY back in the rotation. The fact that Gallery and Grove are no longer rookies, leads me to believe our Oline should be solid, opening big holes, with no extra guys up front to come in and help. Jordan is a big back with good blocking skills, a prototype everydown back. Norv Turner is a run first/run often coach. Throw in a less than stellar defense, and I predict big things Fantasy wise for all the offensive players in Oaktown!

Therefore:

Jordan = Good Fantasy Production this coming season.

Find another team for which to root, please. You're bringing this thread down.If you knew ANYTHING about football, you'd know Jordan is perfect for this offense.

Yeah, it would be nice to have home games televised again up here in Sac town. I can't wait for this season to get going. I hope they use all of their draft picks for defense now unless incredible offensive talent falls.

Why can't he be a RB1? I'm not kidding, and I'm not asking the question strictly as a Raider fan. I firmly believe he is a frontline FF RB, with no qualifiers.

Are you serious? go check out the other Jordan threads and see what some posters were saying. Jordan will be ranked top 15 for sure in my books. Remember the Barlow hype... well he turned out to be a bust and with due cause because not enough people took into effect his surroundings. With L. Jordans' surroundings around guys like Moss, Porter, Curry, Gabriel and this young and good offensive lines how can he not volt up into the top 15??? I think you guys are underestimating how good he is going to be.

Alright I'll start rooting for the Vikes. :rotflmao: Hey I hope I'm wrong. I'd be the first to say so.

But I want you to say so if you are. Or I'm coming to your house and taking

down all your Raider posters. :yucky:

Since Wheatley was ranked around #25 by some last year, I don't think it too far fethched to have some rank Jordan around #15.

Anybody else think that the Raiders way overpaid for him?

LaMont Jordan, the top free-agent available at running back, agreed in principle Wednesday on a five-year deal worth $27.5 million.

Jordan will receive about $17.8 million in guarantees over the first three years of the contract, including a $7 million signing bonus.
Do you think Edge or Alexander would get significantly more guaranteeed money on the market? Nice acquisition, but boy oh boy is the capman gonna be comin for these Raiders real soon...

Of course he could be a RB1, but due to his lack of a track record it'd take an awful lot of gamble for an owner to draft him as such. Unless you're planning on backing up the move with a very sold RB2 and RB3. I know I couldn't do it even though I'm on the LJ bandwagon already.

This is the biggest point that people overlook. A large percentage of a RB's effectiveness is predicated on the ability of the players surrounding him. As good as Jordan is, he will NOT be the focus in defensive meetings. Randy Moss makes everyone better. I'd be stunned if YPC of the Minnesota backs went up this year.

I don't see any downside to this (granted as soon as Moss was announced last week, I've been walking around a little light headed). I feel like this is EXACTLY the move for the Raiders. IIRC, Jordan averaged over 5 yds per carry last year. That sounds pretty :censored: good to me!So, yes I'm happy... I'm effing THRILLED!

Just snap the ball already.

So how many dynasty league guys are going to trade Jordan now? I used a 3rd round rookie pick on him in '01. Finally the waiting ends, but hype will set in and the value may just be too high to pass up.

Yeah ok.
Never said it was me or that I agreed with it, but there will be some that will rank him that high.

How many other serious suitors for Jordan were there? I overpaid for Jordan in MOX VI dynasty, so I'm thrilled, but the money seems awfully high. Were Miami or Arizona ever real aggressive in the courtship?Edited for spelling.

If you had said top 10, I would thiink you might be right--or could go either way. But Jordan doesn't have to be that great to be RB15. There are enough serious RBBCs that Jordan simply needs to keep Zeroue off on 1st and 2nd down. RB15 just isn't that hard to achieve if you get the majority of snaps and goal line carries.I mean Pittman was #12 this year in one of my leagues, McGahee, Droughns and Dunn were 14-16 with other factors cutting into their carries or starts. So, given 16 games Jordan could likely compete with their agreggate production.

What does Just say NO to penguins, have to do with Lamont Jordan? :rotflmao: Does He walk like one? :rotflmao:

Eventhough I'm not a fan, the NFL is more interesting when the Raiders are in the thick of things. I hope they win some games.
