Lance Berkman (1 Viewer)

any insight on whether Lance Berkman will turn it around or continue to have a crappy season?TIA.
During a Cards/Astros game this weekend the announcers were talking about how Phil Garner thinks that he's real close to getting back to his old self.Apparently there is no injury, no mechanical issues and he is hitting in front of Carlos Lee who is having a good year. They said that basically his timing and plate discipline was off, but that he was working on it and should be back to form soon.I think he is a great buy low candidate.

Something ain't right because he is clearly out of whack this year. More ground balls, less line drives and fly balls. Walk rate is up but so is his strikeout rate. He isn't going to hit more HRs unless he starts getting that ball off the ground.

I've had a few inquiries over the past two weeks for Berkman from two of the most active owners in my big keeper league.

After a few messages, the one owner was convinced he didn't want to give up what I wanted, he clearly wanted to buy low. He offered Overbay and Hudson before Overbay's injury and I told him there's no chance...we talk Kazmir/Hamels and maybe we're onto something. He balked.

The other negotiation got deeper, but stalled as I wanted Brandon Wood in the deal along with Delgado and Willis. He didn't want to give up Wood and we couldn't get another player involved to anyone's liking. I don't think he was looking to buy low, as Delgado and Willis isn't too bad, at least better than Overbay and Hudson.

Berkman has hit .195 over the past month with a slugging % of .337 (or something like that) - he isn't worth anything right now.

hence, buy low. i think he's heating up right now. the guy is too good to keep doing what he's done so far this year.

Just traded away Berkman over the weekend in a points/keeper league:

Got Willis, Delgado and Wood

Gave Berkman, Chuck James, Niemann
