If the Raiders grab Hawk, the Raiders defense, well, might not suck this year!

Raiders | Johnstone reaches two-year deal

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Oakland Raiders have reached a two-year deal with DE Lance Johnstone (Vikings). Financial terms were not disclosed.

I'd say good pick up for pass rush. The only problem I see is that he is similar to Burgess where they really aren't a FT DE.

If they are good, I doubt it has anything to do with this signing. A pass rush specialist who, at 33 years old, may get a handfull of sacks but offers nothing else.

I agree. Not anything to get hyped up about IMO. It is good to have another pass rusher to come off the bench though. Not a bad deal for the Raiders, but I'm not writing to mom about it.

Hand full of sacks? He had 7, 11, 10, and 7.5 sacks in the last 4 years. He should have had 10 agin this year but penalities hurt him. A solid signing for the Raiders. I wish Minny would have signed him. Definitely a part time player.

Decent signing as there was a need for a 3rd down rusher opposite Burgess. Bobby Hamilton and Brayton (if he moves back to DE) don't offer much in that department. It also lessens the need to draft a Mark Anderson, Darryl Tapp, or Stanley McClover situational rusher in the second or third to fill that role unless the organization really loves one of them.

The Raiders still have plenty of other holes they can now give more focus and grab potential starters with a draft like:

Round 1 - Winston Justice (i fear Hawk will be off the board. Move Sims to G)

Round 2 - Darnell Bing, SS

Round 3 - Dusty Dvoracek, DT

Round 4 - Clint Ingram, OLB

Al really needs to hit on the draft this year.

Welcome back Lance. I didn't like it when he left, so I am pretty happy that Oakland brought him back for a 2nd tour of duty.
