True, but he's looked good in games so far this preseason, and we all know how much Jeff Fisher loves throwing to the TE. Not saying Kendricks will be a top 10 TE, but I could see just below that.Rams fan here. It sounds like the exact same thing they were saying last year
Lol, same here and im the biggest gronk owner out there.not falling for this one again. i actually started this guy o er gronk in week 1 last yr. lulz
not falling for this one again.
agree. different this year. had a training camp. has a coach that uses the TE. its been apparent that the rams intend to use that short game. its been reported that the Rams have said they are working very hard on short drops and they wont be doing that 5-7 step drop stuff this year.True, but he's looked good in games so far this preseason, and we all know how much Jeff Fisher loves throwing to the TE. Good luck putting a LB or safety on Kendricks.you cant fall off the floor, so in that sense he'll be better than last year. But he just doesnt have the size (6'4) or speed (4.75 40), nor is he in the right offense to be a break out star.FTR, Gronk is 6'6 with a 4.68 40. Graham is 6'7 with a 4.56i'd rather save a sleeper spot for someone else
the difference being last year you had mcd the te killer, and this year you have schotty the te knob slobberRams fan here. It sounds like the exact same thing they were saying last year
but this is fantasy football. His *upside* is that he breaks into the realm of the startable in a 10 team league, correct? Or are you predicting Top 5 performance?Good luck putting a LB or safety on Kendricks.you cant fall off the floor, so in that sense he'll be better than last year. I see way more Finley or Hernandez than Gates, and I am predicting a top 12 TE finish this year. The guy is smooth and quick out of breaks...plus...not a ton of competition for targetsI see a lot of Gates when I watch Kendricks.http://www.nfl.com/videos/st-louis-rams/0ap2000000051846/Bradford-23-yard-TD-pass-to-Kendricks
If he can prove to be a trustworthy target, Bradford could treat Kendricks like he did Gresham at OU.I see way more Finley or Hernandez than Gates, and I am predicting a top 12 TE finish this year. Fisher and Shotty love the TEWhat impact will Fisher as head coach have in terms of utilizing the TE?
TruthMy biggest concern here is that there are going to be too many mouths to feed in that Ram dumpoff festival. SJax is a capable receiver out in the flat, Amendola is clearly at his best working over the middle, Steve Smith (who looks like the other starter at the moment, as far as I can tell) is another guy with good underneath skills who doesn't really have the athleticism to stretch the field or challenge corners deep...and this ain't New England where they're going to throw 600 short balls.
I like his talent. But can he find the looks to be relevant? I'm not sure.
I'm a subscriber to the theory that players see the most improvement between years 1-2 and think this could be highlighted for the 2011 draft class. Kendricks is someone I'm watch closely and it doesn't hurt that @MattWaldman thought highly of him coming out of college.Kendricks is going to be a star. He is a mis-match nightmare. He's big, strong, athletic and has good hands. He did have the rookie jitters last year. No training camp didn't help either.
Rookies not having OTA's and training camp really hurt too. I am serious when I say the dude has crazy good skills. But as the above poster said, are there enough balls to go around it the Rams 3-5 step drop, quick striking underneath offense ? Last year Josh McDaniels tried to turn the Rams into a 7 step, air it out offense when the o-line was was in shambles. Both OT's were hurt and their interior line was putrid. I can't believe Josh was that moronic. He was getting Sam killed. Shotty will play to the Rams strength this year, and that's 3-4 step, quick hitters and slants with the occasional deep ball. Until the Rams can build their line, this is how it will be. They have four #1 picks these next 2 years, so the o-line will be addressed.I'm a subscriber to the theory that players see the most improvement between years 1-2 and think this could be highlighted for the 2011 draft class. I was never on that silly Kendricks train last year. Way overblown. But this year could be different!Been researching this guy and plan on ignoring tight end until late in a 12 team startup keeper auction and grabbing Kendricks (or Rudolph) for a buck. It seems that the hype on these boards last year and from press during his rookie camp, along with some bad drops last season, led to a backlash after he didn't post top 15 numbers in his rookie campaign. And in response to slight buzz this offseason, people are hesitant to fall for the Kendricks train again. But i think they may be writing him off too early. From what I've seen, I like his shot at cracking the top 15 this year (600 yards and 5 TDs), which in an auction format can free up some money to spend some on other positions or depth. It seems a top ten TE will cost you $10+. And if you're not willing to splurge on a top 5 TE, I'm not so sure the return for a 6th through 12th-ish level TE is worth that $10 or so dollars. When you get down to the $1/$2 tight ends, Cook, Celek, and Keller have already shown they can put up top 15 numbers. Olsen and Dickson have gotten right up close to those numbers. They're safe picks (and Olsen represents potential high upside with Shockey leaving) but they've all been around for a few years (other than Dickson) and I'm not so sure they're going to improve much more on previous years' numbers. But Kendricks and Rudolph both represent 2nd year players that can be had for $1/$2 and may take significant strides forward after their rookie campaigns. Rudolph's actually seen around these parts as a sexy pick and may cost you $3 or so if another owner is counting on him, too. Kendricks rookie year was on par with Kyle Rudolph's and can almost certainly be had for $1 so long as you're the one that nominated him. It could even be argued that he's in a better situation with less red zone competition than Rudolph... I'm grabbing him.
I would say top 10 if Bradford had a decent o-line. But he doesn't. Kendricks has the talent though.Has top 5 written all over him.His floor is TE12 this year.
Wow. I really didn't know people thought this much of him.I would say top 10 if Bradford had a decent o-line. But he doesn't. Kendricks has the talent though.Has top 5 written all over him.His floor is TE12 this year.
He was TE 41 last year. I like his chances of improving, but his floor isn't TE 12. His floor is complete and total irrelevance.'Mario Kart said:Has top 5 written all over him.His floor is TE12 this year.
Amendola, Steve Smith, SJax, Quick, Pead, and the other 4 WRs I can't think of right now.'noneother said:He's my 3rd TE behind Grahm and Petigrew. Not sure how far he will come this year. But where else is Bradford going to go??
Why that is a scary good group of players there lol. Not sure if you were joking or not but I would think that Kendricks would be a much better option then a lot of those guys...Amendola, Steve Smith, SJax, Quick, Pead, and the other 4 WRs I can't think of right now.'noneother said:He's my 3rd TE behind Grahm and Petigrew. I agree with you but my point is there are a lot of guys on the team who can catch quick dumpoff passes and short slant/passes.Why that is a scary good group of players there lol. The only one there that has shown he "can catch quick dumpoff passes and short slant/passes" is SJax... Amendola.. no.. Smith.. Not in a while... Pead.. Gangbusters he's been... Quick will be good I think... " and the other 4 WRs I can't think of right now" supports my point... Sure.. Bradford can throw it to anyone other than his OL.. Amendola and Smith are certainly threats to catch a lot of passes and cut into Kendricks' upside. I still think he can catch 4 passes a game but the biggest issue for him will be TD's since Bradford hasn't thrown more than 5 TD's to a single player in his career so far. Without the TD's he's going to be stuck as a high TE2. I'm hopeful the offense will improve next year with the picks the Rams have but I don't see him breaking into the top 12 this year.Huh ? 86 wasn't enough ?The only one there that has shown he "can catch quick dumpoff passes and short slant/passes" is SJax...
