I know he's flying under the radar (which will probably be evidenced by the relatively few looks this thread gets), but there's something I like about this kid. He's been impressing the Saints staff since training camp and just might find his way into the starting lineup soon.
After being used exclusively on special teams in week 1, he was targeted 5 times in week 2, and 10 times week 3. He's hauled in 9 passes for 100 yards, more than any other receiver except Colston (yes, Eric Johnson has more receptions but 2 fewer yards).
The Saints offense is hurting right now and with Deuce out, they might find themselves frequently playing from behind and forced to throw the ball more than they'd like. David Patten is struggling with turf-toe, and Devery Henderson is in the dog-house while suffering through the dropsies. There's no reason to believe that Moore can't earn more playing time and become a bigger part of this offense.
I'm not really sure why the Saints might not put him on the field more just to see what this kid could do. He was undrafted out of Toledo and is in his second year, but has stuck thus far and is showing to be an NFL quality player. He reminds me of another slightly built, unheralded receiver out of college who started off in special teams but turned himself into a pretty solid receiver...Wes Welker.
I'm keeping a really close eye on this guy and am even tempted to pick him up before week 5 when the Saints play Carolina. After that I feel he might be the hot waiver wire pick of the week.
Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this guy or the opportunities he may or may not have within the Saints WR corps?
