Lance Moore (1 Viewer)

Boccioni

Does anyone have a sense of what happened to Lance Moore? Many here anticipated that he would play a prominent role in the absence of Reggie Bush. Do NO homers have any insight (beyond the general view that Brees spreads it around and so no WRs other than Colston are reliable there)?

I thought he played a pretty prominant role for the first two games...the last game, obviously not so much. That is pretty much how the Saints roll every week though....you can start anyone and either they probably will blow up or get you a goose egg...not much in between.

Is this the first time you've owned a Saints WR?
Actually, I think Boccioni raised a good point. Moore was pretty consistent two years ago when Bush went out. So it seems something weird happened this past Sunday.
You mean other than Arizona winning!Moore owner and there i s no rhyme nor reason as to just when he seems to have a good game. I mean, all the stars can be aligned, the tides just right and he will post a zero. Put him on your bench on the other hand..........................

He was targeted in the end zone, though he was knocked off his route. The team in general struggled and the turnovers killed a lot of drives. Plus it is the Saints we're talking about; last week Colston and Meacham got a little love. I still like Lance going forward however, since he runs excellent quick hit routes. I think he could continue to be a factor even when Reggie gets healthy.

True, but you're looking at a sample size of 3 games. I don't think any WR has been reliable week-to-week in that offense since Colston in 07.

Lance Moore actually had a very good consistent run 2 years ago...

What he is saying is that we are only looking at three games this year. It's not a crazy idea to think he has one blip this year. And he actually did have a few blips in 08 as well. Weeks 7, 14, 15 all had less than 3 catches for him. Only 1 TD in those weeks. At the end of this season, we could look back and see week 5 as one of those blips.

This was the point made by many in that thread that contemplated Moore's potential increased role with Bush out (before his blowup game this year). Yes he produced heavily the last time Bush was out but it was part of his overall increased role in that offense, coupled with Colston being hurt. It wasn't caused by Bush being off the field.

Owning Colston and Moore on the same team, I've tried to make some sense out who to start. For what it's worth, be it TDs or yards, Moore has historically always performed much better at home and Colston has put up the vast majority of his TDs on the road. Whether there's any real validity to it going forward or not, for me it's as good a reason as any to pick one over the other in a given week.

I'll be benching Moore this week.

To that point, could it have something to do with dome/turf versus open stadium/grass? Maybe Moore's speed/routes lend themselves better to the turf?
