Larry Johnson has done well (not great) the last 4 weeks after a horrible, terrible, horrifying start. Is this a sign of things to come for the rest of the season or has the team around him deteriorated to the point where he just can't be a top RB anymore and is it time to sell him now on his name and recent performance? You're obviously not going to get what you gave up to get him originally, but perhaps you'll get more than if you wait and he falters again.

Pros:

Proven history of dominance in previous years

Good stretch last 4 weeks

Easier schedule the rest of the season

Cons:

Old OL isn't what it once was

Huard sucks

33 rushing yards at the half last week against Oakland

Terrible first 3 weeks

The broken record topic of the season is "Patriots _____".And this week was a very telling week for Larry Johnson. One half he was awful and every reason to be scared, the other half he had a big run and ended up with decent numbers. The question is, based on everything that's happened thus far, which half is a better sign of things to come?

both. He'll get stuffed a good bit due to the line/poor qb play but he'll break one/two long ones per game due to his talent alone.

The real question is what are you getting in return? Are you asking whether you should trade him "in case" his value falters? With all of the injuries in the league I do not think I would want to risk trading him for that reason. Who do you think you could trade him for, specifically?

In one of my league's PPR scoring I can find only 4 players with a better FPPG in the last 4 weeks.

LT: 34.9 (3 games) untradable.

RB: 28.9 (4 games) done.

AP: 26.1 (3 games) good luck with that.

Addai: 22.6 (2 games) hurt? rbbc?

LJ: 22.4 (4 games)

McG: 22.1 (4 games) solid & steady.

LyN: 19.5 (3 games) time will tell.

MJD: 19.3 (4 games) hurt? rbbc?

Bush: 18.1 (4 games) steady in PPR .

Portis: 17.9 (3 games) getting it done with TD's.

I'm not sure who you'd favor in trade, but LJ should have a solid close of the season.

5 of his last 8 games are in KC & his PO schedule is DEN/Tenn/DET. If you make the championship game you could be golden. Good Luck.

I was a believer in his O-line and situation having more to do with his success than his ability.

He's a tremendous RB and when he had a good line he was on pace to do things never seen at the RB position. The line has fallen off TREMENDOUSLY in the two years since and he'll still be a top 5 back by seasons end.

you shouldn't need to be convinced of his talent level, it's elite. His surrounding cast is issue. You don't get 1627 yards and 17 tds in 9 games like he did in '05 without being an elite talent.

In the preseason material, one of the FBG staffers wrote an article about their strategy for trading for LJ after Week 7. The article noted that LJ would get off to a less than stellar start, with his hold out, new O-Line, shaky QB play, and tough schedule. Well, he's made it through Week 7 as a top 10 RB, and NOW is when LJ owners can start having real fun. THE WRITING WAS ON THE WALL, literaly, in the preseason. If you can get him cheap, I would do it in a heartbeat. I see him from this point on as a #2 or #3 overall RB behind LT and MAYBE Addai. His schedule is CAKE. He made it through fantasy schedule hell as a top 10 RB, now enjoy the ride if you have him or try to trade for him if you dont before it's too late.

He is already the number 10 rb in most scoring formats and his schedule gets easier from here on out, getting the broncos twice, the raiders again, as well as the detroit lions in the first week of the fantasy playoffs for most people in week 14.

Last four games, he has had 3 100 yd games and 3 of those games he had 24 or more carries. He has 27 catches on the year, so that is solid for ppr leagues as well, and he has had a td in each of the past two games.

It may be frustrating to watch the chiefs offense at times, but to have a guy who

a. doesn't get injured

b. gets a ton of carries

c. is the goaline back

It is rare to have a fantasy rb to have all of these qualities. LJ is too talented to not finish the rest of the way as a top 10 fantasy rb. He already is at number 10 now.

15 touches is much different than 15 carries

I agree with your general points.LJ is a 20+ touch every down back, there are very few of them in the NFL.If he is on your roster, count yourself lucky.

And what Chris Mortensen says should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember, just this season he reported Eli Manning was going to be out for a month when he did not miss a game. Mort justified it by saying that his source truly believed what he said at the time. Big ####### deal Mort, you reported it and were wrong.Additionally for two consecutive seasons in New York Herm said he was going to increase Lamont Jordan's touches to spell Curtis. Anyone remember that actually happening?
