Preface to say, I am a Larry Johnson owner in my dynasty league.
LJ will be 28 years old this coming season and has logged 1050 carries to this point in his career. Pretty light workload given his age, due mostly to backing up Priest Holmes early in his career. I know someone around here did a study showing that age is the number one factor in how much more a RB has left. 30 generally being considered the magic number.
Personally I think LJ is a hold right now due to his value being so much lower than it was just a year ago. I just don't think you'd get a very good return on him at this point given his age and last years production.
Next season promises to be better for LJ, as he will have a full training camp, and the Chiefs know their #1 goal in the offseason is to upgrade their offensive line. He may not reach his lofty numbers of 2006, but I don't think forcasting a top 10 season is unreasonable.
I do think LJ is one of the most talented backs in the league. I don't believe that the RBs that have been productive into their early 30s have him beat in talent. Curtis Martin, Fred Taylor and Emmitt Smith have all shown us that they can get it done in their early 30s. Given LJs light workload, I think he very well could have four more productive years.
