With a number of injuries playing a factor, there are a few guys out there that COULD have an impact these last few weeks and into the fantasy playoffs. Guys like Arlen Harris, Justin Fargas, Jason Wright, Damien Nash...

So who are the sharks targeting for the stretch run?

I added Duckett last week in both my redraft and my dynasty leagues. He IMHO fits that offense's run blocking strengths better as a downhill runner than Betts does, and Betts' poor performance yesterday can only encourage Duckett to be used more. Duckett also is confirmed as the short-yardage RB in Washington.

Gado is another one to look at as a late-season acquisition as he seems to be getting more opportunities and taking advantage of them, all as the Texans seem to be playing better football as a team.

I wouldn't think Gado would be on many WWs in leagues of 10 or 12 teams. Duckett certainly would be.

Arlen Harris - Nice schedule and a high octane offense

Cedrick Houston - Will be the man for the Jets come playoff time

Justin Fargas - Nice playoff schedule and an improving offense.

in the past week, ive added duckett, harris and fargas. Our WW is first come first served. If i can get RB3/4 production out of one of them, ill take it.

Not sure If I would say harris has a nice shedule. He has the Vikings and Bears still to come.

Why do you think Houston will be the man? Washington has had some success as has Barlow...at best it will continue to be a 3 headed monster I would think.

:goodposting: I have him on my dynasty roster and thought about including him in my post, but decided not to for the reasons you stated.

WOuld Fargas get you more production than a part time RB like MBIII ?

IMO, No Way! Barber is nearly a lock for a td a week...he has 9 in 10 games. I would think that Barber is right on the fringe of an rb2 and is an excellent flex.

That Raiders playoff schedule is very tempting. Did Brooks look better at QB yesterday?

sorry but.....rotflmao :lmao:
Hey its all relative dude. Week 9 the Raiders are visiting Seattle, who has one of the worst defenses on the planet this year and they make them look like the '85 Bears. Week 11, Mr. Brooks is back and the Raiders go into Arrowhead against a pretty formidable defense (at least at home) and they stay in the game until the last minute.

I think that Houston (on a per carry basis, visually and not statistically) clearly has the most upside. He is the most powerful, short yardage back, yet can still run through holes in between the tackles. Out of the 3 I think that he has the best prospects for generating decent starting RB quality stats late in the 2006 season. Mangini also doesn't have a lot of vested capital in any of these RBs and certainly will play the hot hand to the extent that one of them starts producing better results.

Both of these guys are available in my league. I have 2 good backs, but lost some depth with Jordan going down and was thinking of replacing him with Fargas. However, the Redskin schedule is fairly sweet and Duckett could get a great opportunity to run over his former team. In a non-ppr league, who would you prefer for the rest of the year - Duckett, Gado or Fargas?

Anyone care to chime in on the health and future of Dominic Davis in Houston? I've been attempting to follow the news but there's a real lack of depth to every article I see.

i added Jason Wright about 4 or so weeks ago(droughns owner)

I added Fargas 2 weeks ago in one league

I had Fargas rostered in one league all year(jordan owner)

I added Nash 2 weeks ago(Bell(s) owner)

but when it comes down to it I dont expect any of them to have an impact on my season

Fargas has the best schedule (Arlene harris has the worst schedule with Minny, GB, Bears all very good run D teams).

Fargas gets a stretch of Houston, Cincy and St Louis, 2 of them during the FF playoffs.

With Brooks I think the Oak O gets a little better however I can see Crockett taking away GL carries etc

I don't have time to look at strength of schedule right now, but only Fargas is effectively without competition for playing time given Jordan's injury; Duckett is competing with Betts and Gado with Lundy and Dayne. Unfortunately, Fargas is also playing for the worst team and worst offense. Gado's actually gotten two decent games back to back and, of interest, got a goalline carry. Duckett is not much of a pass catcher and still figures in primarily as a short-yardage back - the statements I made about Duckett taking over most of the work from Betts are purely my impression. I would probably rank them as follows:GadoDuckettFargasAll are "flawed" in different ways, but it's a statement about how little I think about the Raiders' ability to generate scoring opportunities that I have Fargas ranked last.

bump - good thread.

Nice analysis on Washington RBs, redman. I'm interested in the Redskins for the stretch run.

I was targeting Jordan specifically as a buy low because of his schedule. Now it's Fargas by default.

Thinking ahead to the playoffs...I only really like Fargas's matchup against the Rams enough to like a guy on such a bad team.

14 @ Cincinnati - Bengals could get up and force a lot of passing.

15 v StLouis

16 v KC - good year versus the run so far.

Any insight on Norwood. He was dropped in my league the other week when he was out with the injury.

I know he got a couple of carries this weekend, so he is back playing. Is he worth considering over some of the other mentioned FA RBs like Justin Fargas, Arlen Harris, Cedric Houston, or Jason Wright?

How much is Sellers a candidate to vulture the vulture carries away from Duckett?

How about Stephen Davis?

I know that's a real longshot, but you would think the Rams would try to run the ball more as long as they think it's OK to play Goldberg at LT. But Jackson already is about tops in the league in touches, while the Rams have a heavy pass/rush imbalance. Adding more running plays would seem to require using a 2nd RB more than Linehan has so far.

Pure speculation on my part. There's an article in the blogger with a headline about Davis's workload increasing, and he has 2 carries in 2 games since then.

Minimal. They use Sellers in a classic FB role, as an outlet receiver and for a couple of "surprise" carries per game.

Thanks for the followup, redman. I'm interested in Duckett but I worry about Sellers stealing TDs - which Duckett has to have to be valuable. You don't seem to like Betts much as an everydown back, do you? Or is it just a question of his fit with Washington?

Miami

NE #2 Rush D

MIN #1 Rush D

@GB #11 Rush D

CHICAGO

You might wanna rethink that

Cedrick Houston - Will be the man for the Jets come playoff time

I am not sure Mangini is confident any of his RB's willl be that man

Justin Fargas - Nice playoff schedule and an improving offense.

I too like his schedule, improving offense...ehhh I guess if they average 200 total yards you can call it improvement :)
