Steelers Haggans out five weeks after surgery
Wednesday, September 28, 2005
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Steelers linebacker Clark Haggans will be out about five weeks after having surgery on his groin, Coach Bill Cowher said today.
Haggans, who had the best game of his career on Sunday against the New England Patriots, is tied for the team lead with three sacks and leads them with three forced fumbles. He's in his second season as their starting left outside linebacker.
James Harrison, who has two sacks even though he has not played much, will replace Haggans.
"Clark Haggans -- and I don't want to go into specifics -- injured his groin during the game,'' Cowher said after practice this afternoon. "He went to a specialist in Philadelphia and had surgery on his groin. He will miss approximately 5 weeks and four games and that's the early diagnosis. Certainly that could be give or take a week here or there."
