Fellas, when you get past the top 20 LBs from last year, in terms of solo tackles(1pt) and assists(.5pt), who jumps out at you as being a possible top 20 LB this year including rookies? I guess this is somewhat of a sleeper question.....How bout Ian Gold moving back to Denver at WLB, Courtney Watson MLB for the Saints, Julian Peterson OLB - SF perhaps, Odell Thurman MLB - Cin ? Others.........Thanks

Hartwell, Kassell, Koutouvides, Marshall, Darling, Urlacher, ADavis, Morgan are guys who probably didn't finish top 20 last season but have a good shot at it this year.EDIT: Add Kailee Wong and Morlon Greenwood.

Wong and Greenwood are locks to be top 20.Marshall has a fantastic opportunity as wellGold is a great pick as well although he has tough competition to get tackles (Wilson, Williams).Kassell will be fantasy gold as long as he can hold the job the whole year.I would pass on Claiborne, Mitchell, Koutivides and Hartwell.

Summary: any MLB who wasn't in the top 20 last year.
LOL. I checked out the stats for Kassel in 2005. Man, he was tearing it up at the end of last year. I think he just jumped up my list.

Checked out a few others....I hate when an LB disappears for a game or two. How can you only post 1 or 2 tackles playing MLB or WLB.

Had Fujita last year and he disappeared on a MNF game. Geez.

Warning on Kassell: he was filling in for Calmus, who's no longer injured. I don't know who will be starting, or how often the other guy will get in. Also, Peter Sirmon is back this season, so the MLB will likely be pulled on nickel packages.

I've been following this a bit since I almost inadvertently landed Kassell in an auction league - Kassell is still listed as #1 on the Depth charts I've seen, but he surely is no 3 down backer - and Bulluck is going to get his share of tackles as well so top 20 is probably reaching quite a bit.bye week/injury fill in for leagues that start a few LBs or are large (or both) would be my assesment - fortunately that is the role I can use Kassell for on that team.

Edit - The Tennessean ha this article about him today stating he is going into the season as the starter

Kassell could lose his job to Calmus, Koutouvides is losing his job to Tatupu, and Morgan could be top 20 for 8-10 weeks and will be OUT with an injury the other 4-6 weeks. The other guys are legit contenders for a top 20 year, and I would add Courtney Watson (especially with the injury to Fincher eliminating any possible competition).

EDIT: Kassell just became much more attractive.
