My lredraft league does not follow the normal rules for drafting, and Im trying to figure out if i should alter my draft strategy because of it.
16 team league
start 1 qb
1 rb
1 wr
2 flex (rb wr te)
1 d
1 k
15 round draft
Scoring:
all TDs 6 points
1 point per 25 yards rushing recieving and NO ppr. 1 point bonus per 100
1 point per 75 yards passing and 1 point bonus per 300
kickers 1 point per ep and 3 per fg
def 6 points for td, 2 per safety, NO points per to otr sack. If your d hold the opponent to 0-9 you get 6 points, 10-15 you get 3, and 15-20 you get 1 point.
Every year the big run on qbs is on rounds 2-3. All but maybe 3 teams have a qb after rounds 3 (im usually one of them). Backup qbs are drafted beginning in round 5. Last year i waited till round 5 to draft my #1 qb and 2 teams already had a qb2! If you wait until late to draft a qb 2, you usually end up with crap like alex smith or losman because of the league size. Also because of league size, there isnt anyone at the rb or qb position left on the ww after the draft.
Knowing that there's an early run on QB's, how does this affect my draft strategy? I typically go RB/RB in rounds 1-2, but this looks like the year i might go rb/wr or manning/rb, or manning/wr. Is it safe to do that knowing that all starting rbs and RBBC rbs will be drafted by the end of round 4 in a league of this size? How important is that QB 2 if you know there wont be a starting QB on the waiver wire if your QB1 goes down? Is it worth that 6th round pick when most leagues are drafting at qb 1 in that round?
