Leagues that start 2 QBs... (1 Viewer)

So my league is switching to a format of starting 2 QBs.

2QB,2RB,3WR,1TE,1Flex,1k,1DEF (.25ppr, 4pts for passing td, -2 for INT, 6pts for all other TDs)

*redraft

I have been playing with the Draft Dominator and trying different strategies. Over the past 5 years I have drafted at least 2 RBs in the first 3 rounds each year and no QBs. With 24 QBs starting in our league, the 24th best QB is faaarrr worse than the 12th best QB so I am predicting a run on the normal top 12 QBs in the 3-5th rounds. Normally I grab a Brett Farve late in the draft and have done well with that. This year I can not wait until late to grab a QB or I will end up with JP Lossman as my #1QB which if that happens I will cry.

So to those who have experience with 2QB leagues, what has been your strategy, do you sacrifice your 2nd RB, 1st WR and grab one early and then take an avg 13th-24thQB?

I am high on McNabb and would really like to get him for my 1st QB and looking for a player like Rivers/Hasselbeck/Cutler for my 2nd-

-Using the DD here is how I see it going.... (I have the 9th pick of 12)

1.09 Rudi Johnson

2.04 Travis Henry

3.09 Donovan McNabb

4.04 Andre Johnson

After that Im not sure if I should be going QB or RB or WR since we have a FLEX pos i could start another RB...

First off, am I off my block with my first 4 projected picks, and second, in 2QB leagues should one wait to grab their second QB or what?

TIA

It's hard to say without knowing how the guys in your league draft, and that's something even you won't know . I play in two 2 QB leagues, and the one thing that has held true for both of them is that you will see at least one, but in most cases two big runs on QBs. One of the leagues switched to this format last year, and 5 of the first 12 picks were QB, then there was a run in the late 5th-early 6th round. If you want one of the guys you mentioned as your 2nd QB, you're probably going to have to take him in the 5th round.

2QB leagues show more variety in drafting, partially because there are more winning strategies, and partially because there isn't as much good information and analysis about them, so their still aren't hard-and-fast rules.

The short answer to your question is to punk WRs. Since you can start three RBs, I would probably take my first WR in round 5 at the earliest.

The long version is that at 1.09, assuming Manning and Palmer are gone, you take an RB, and loop back to take a QB in round 2. You should get McNabb there. At 3.09 you go RB, probably a Thomas Jones/Caddy type, and at 4.04 you grab Gates if he's around or another RB, (you could take him at 3.09 if you like). In 5.09 you get a QB, where you might find Vick or Losman, or McNair. At that point you can snap up WRs like Housmandzadeh or possibly Driver or Colston.

If its your first year, then two things will either happen....guys will still stick to their old ways and not really take into consideration the 2 QBs, or will over-compensate and go hog wild on QBs. Being thats its the first year, it will be tough to gauge how the draft will play out, so I wouldn't go in with a plan on how you will be drafting, but rather just be prepared for anything.

Thanks for good info in this post and the previous one about why not to worry about wr early.

I'm commishing a 2 QB league that just started drafting, so far:1.01 Bolts - Tomlinson1.02 Pfeilspitze - Larry Johnson1.03 Jets - Stephen Jackson1.04 Buccaneers - Frank Gore1.05 Hoff's - Peyton Manning1.06 BMH - Brian Westbrook1.07 Canton Legends - Shaun Alexander1.08 Warren Mavericks - Rudi Johnson1.09 Nacho Nacho Man - Carson Palmer1.10 Airmen - Joseph Addai1.11 OZ - Willie Parker1.12 Aviators - Reggie Bush1.13 Cyclone - Tom Brady1.14 Theismans Broken Leg - Drew Brees2.15 Theismans Broken Leg - Maurice Jones-Drew2.16 Cyclone - Travis Henry2.17 Aviators - Marc Bulger2.18 OZ - Clinton Portis2.19 Z-Strike Airmen - Steve Smith2.20 Nacho Nacho Man - Ronnie Brown2.21 Warren Mavericks - Willis McGahee2.22 Canton Legends - Laurence Maroney2.23 BMH - Ocho Cinco2.24 The Hoffs - Edge2.25 Buccaneers - Cedric Benson2.26 Jersey Jets - Marvin Harrison2.27 Pfeilspitze - Thomas Jones2.28 Bolts - Brandon Jacobs3.29 Bolts - Reggie Wayne3.30 Pfeilspitze - Terrell Owens3.31 Jersey Jets - Torry Holt3.04 Buccaneers - Larry FitzgeraldThe bottom 3 teams all chose QB/RB, while at 11 and #18, I went RB-RB. Not by design, but Portis was BPA left and a great value IMO at #18. I actually had some heartburn with the Portis pick, despite the value, simply because I can see getting screwed at QB and WR now. After the 2P3B QBs, I don't think I'd take a QB until the 3rd round. This starting lineups here are a little different than yours, 2 QB2 RB2 WR1 TE2 RB/WR2 WR/TE1 K1 DEFSo, in theory you can start 4 RBs and 4 WRs. Most likely the most RBs anyone will start is 3, with 4 or 5 WRs, and 1 or 2 TEs. QBs might be overvalued if you just consider that 28 (1 per NFL team) QBs are starting, because there's also 126 (4 per NFL team) other offensive players starting. I won't get too much into my strategy here, as others in the league frequent this board, but I will say I'll make sure I get 2 QBs I like, just not at the expense of my other players.
