Lee Evans v Miami Defense... (1 Viewer)

I am one of the few owners in the world of FF that has Lee Evans and made the playoffs...I have not used him recently but I really like his matchup for this week. Buffalo is at home, Miami has some defensive injuries and they won't be relying on Lynch that much if he plays...Granted WRs recently have not done well against Miami (likely because teams have been running against them, they have played in a bad weather game (pitts) and backup QBs have played against them (feely)

But despite this for some reason I can see this as one of the Lee Evans 6 catches 150 yards 2 td games...

Anyone else think this is a realistic?

There is always a chance, but sounds to me like you are really trying to convince yourself. IIRC, Evans has 0 TDs and 0 games over 75 yards receiving with Edwards at QB. I have Evans and was starting him when JP came in, but have been benching him with Edwards.

I am starting M. Furrey over him this week and haven't thought twice about it. Good luck.

:blackdot: I'm also starting Evans in the playoffs, and probably will until eliminated over Walker, but anything I get from him is a gift. Furrey could be a great play this week, as could McDonald - who I have going in 2 redraft leagues.

If you have him on your roster, it's tempting because you're in the playoffs, he has a history of monster games and a game like that from a receiver will likely vault you to the next round but

...

the Bills hardly throw down field with Edwards so I'd say the chances of Evans having one of those games is slim to none...

If you're in a touchdown heavy league though, he might not be a bad option... Yardage heavy or ppr, then no way.

I wouldn't bank on it. I really don't believe that **** Jauron has a great deal of confidence in Trent Edwards in the vertical passing game, and so he resorts to a dink-and-dunk passing offense, mixed in with a heavy running game. Evans is a pure deep threat, and cannot thrive in the current passing scheme. In five starts, Edwards only has 1 passing TD and five interceptions.

With a forecast of snow in Buffalo, I would think that weather will be a factor. Personally, I am considering benching Evans this week for Chris Henry facing a soft Rams secondary.

If you make it through your Week 14 matchup, Evans has a great matchup facing the Browns and their 30th ranked passing defense.

I don't consider this a good matchup at all for a few reasons.

1. Miami is currently the 3rd rated pass defense.

2. Last time they played he had a whopping 4 catches for 65 yards, and this was the week after he blew up for 165 and a score against Cincy.

3. Miami is currently dead last against the run. They actually give up almost as many rush yards as they do passing yard.

These three things make me very leary of Evans this week. I have been considering starting him at flex this week over Willie Parker and Ron Dayne and I just can't pull that trigger given these facts. Miami does not score much and tend to get behind, leaving them prone to being run on. That's just what it is.

Of course, I am probably wrong and the guy will explode....I just can't get myself to bet on it.

They can play conservative and still beat Miami. He's a better play next week against Cleveland. Buffalo will have to throw to keep up with the Browns.

If us Evans owners want any chance of him actually going off, then we need to stop making these threads and let him "surprise us".

I've had Evans all season and I'm sitting him for Ike Bruce and Shaun McDonald this week. Haven't really considered starting him.

Anytime I see one of these Lee Evans threads I know it's the week to sit him. He had a great matchup against the Mathis-less Jaguars a couple weeks back and didn't catch a pass until the 4th quarter. I'd rather go w/ Chris Henry or Wes Welker at this point in the playoffs.

I am debating starting Ted Ginn Jr over him. I had such high hopes for him, and has been a huge disappointment. T Edwards is the wortst thing that could have happened to Evans, but probably the better QB for the Bills.

I played Evans almost all season even when he had poor game after poor game. Benched him today in the first round of playoffs for Chris Henry.Feeling wonderful right now.

For all the backlash against Evans, he was still the #37 fantasy WR coming into this week, so it's not like it's that big of a stretch to say that he should at least be a WR3-type... and when facing a decision between several WR3-type players, I always default to the one with WR1 talent. I haven't sat Evans yet this year, and this week was no different. Next week won't be, either.

A reasonable approach. Though harder when the WR1 talent has QB0 talent throwing to him and the OC doesn't have a gameplan. I decided I wanted a steady 5-50 in that slot this week instead of the chance of 1-6-0 in exchange for a chance at 2-79-2. Oh well.
