Leinart Impressing (1 Viewer)

LHUCKS

Listening to local sports talk radio this morning, there are rumblings that Leinart has been very impressive already taking snaps with the second team. The coaches are particularly pleased with his mobility and accuracy...Steve Young comparisons were made by several coaches.

...that's the local word.

what do you listen to? KTAR? I drive a lot for work and get tired of the same songs over and over on the radio, i should probably start listening to sports talk radio

 Leinart is better than John Navarre?!?!?

Given Navarre's familiarity with the system and Green's continued support of him, it was surprising that Leinart's ascent occurred as quickly as it did according to Cards' insiders. Take it for what it's worth.Interesting, useless anecdote: Apparently the QBs have a game where they try to hit the center of the goal post from 30 yards out at the end of practice...Leinart has won 2 out of 3 times.

Not too surprising, his accuracy at that range is excellent. Byond that, he loses a bit more than Warner, but as long as Green isn't asking him to throw hail mary passes often, he'll be very very good.

I heard the same thing this morning. It was on the Bickley and MJ Show.

These two guys make my ears bleed. The Cardinals orgnaization refers to MJ as the "mushroom" as he's always in the dark.

Regardless, the buzz on Leinart has been nothing but positive. It was reported last week that Leinart was given ability to call audibles in mini-camp, something that Green has reportedly never let a rookie do in the past.

Hey. I tried to send you a PM a few minutes ago, but I think your inbox is full.

Lienart will be the starter by Week 7. No way Warner makes it through the season without being injured...and once he is, Lienart wont give it up.

AFAIK, the only rookie QB Denny ever had in MN was Daunte. I cannot recall back then what he did in mini-camp. The way that is worded makes it seem like this is something incredibly unique, where he simply has never had a rookie to give that opportunity too, other than Daunte. Which I guess would make it unique.

Steve Young? :lmao:

Leinart's mobility is underrated, but that's only insofar as people fail to realize his skill in rolling out on designed plays, etc. He's not Vinny Testaverde, but he's not Steve Young either. Remember, many said that, early in his career, Young could have played RB in the NFL if he'd wanted to.

The young comparisons were regarding his throwing motion and accuracy if I'm not mistaken, not his mobility.

they are definitely hacks, but that being said they are the only local guys with the nuts to criticize the Cards organization. MJ does get some insider information and the Cards will always downplay his connections as he has been openly critical of the Cards.I listen to Mike and Mike or the Herd on ESPN more often than not.

:lmao: , nothing about the above statement is untrue. And obviously nobody believes he's as mobile as Steve Young.

Ok, at least we're in agreement on the :lmao: . Mind you, I'm a Leinart fan and hope he does well, but that comparison seemed a bit silly to me. :)

Very pleased to hear, but I too laugh at the Steve Young comparisons. Steve Young was one of the best running RBs up there with Moon, Slash, and the like. Her certainly didn't rack up as much yardage, because he was such a great passer but dude had wheels.

I also heard this bit around 6:45 this morning. Bick & MJ were also talking about giving Warner gruff because he's been one-upped by "the rook" in those hit-the-goalpost games.

The thing I find most startling is that there are more people than myself who listen to that god awful morning show. I just tuned-in for a bit because Carolla was on commercial.

I switch over when ESPN hits commercial.

Young: 4239 yards, 43 TDStewart: 2874 yards, 38 TD

Moon: 1736 yards, 22 TD

In fact, in the past 45 years, Young is the #2 QB in rushing yardage, behind only Randal Cunningham (4928 yards), and is #1 in rushing TDs.

Leinart is more mobile than people give him credit for, but he's no Young.
