Let's Explore Skylines (1 Viewer)

Awesome thread idea.  I've been interested in skylines since I was a kid.  Growing up in the LA area (where downtown LA actually had a fairly small downtown and therefore skyline), I really latched on to Chicago, where my parents are from and where I have family.

Moving to Austin in 2006 was awesome, getting to see the skyline changing so quickly.  I bet I wouldn't even recognize it now if I went back.  We left in 2012.

Here's a cool link about Austin's changing skyline

Edit to add - always was proud of my hometown and it's little business district adjacent to one of the world's most famous malls, South Coast Plaza:  Scroll down to bottom

I sent my youngest daughter to space camp in Huntsville several years ago.  Now she's entering her senior year in HS and wants to study astronomy.
In 6th grade the local schools send kids to space camp at a reasonable price. We moved here after our oldest was in 8th grade and he didn't have much interest so he didn't go, 2nd son loved it. 3rd son would have gone this past year :(  we're hoping they give the same deal to 7th graders this year.

Went to a wrestling show in Huntsville just a few months ago, before it all went to pot. I really liked the little daytrip we had there.
It doesn't get the attention it deserves because, it is Alabama. But it's the 2nd best place we've lived. Charlottesville gets first, but it's more expensive there.

Curently live in Austin and it's a very interesting video. Thanks.  Also having worked in SCP at one time, I can honestly say I never even thought of Costa Mesa as having any sort of skyline. Nice area with great retail and restaurants though.

Its a shame what's going on in Hungary with its government because Budapest is a beautiful, fun city.

Went to Medellin earlier this year before the world shut down. What a great city. Had a blast.

Great first choice.

My wife and I visited Australia and New Zealand about four years ago. We ended our trip in Auckland and stayed for a few days. It was incredible.

We had a corner hotel room right on the water with floor to ceiling sliding windows around the entire room. We opened them up and it was like our entire room was a huge covered patio. Out our window we had the ocean and hundreds of sailboats (Aukland is the sailing capital of the world). It was the most amazing room I've ever stayed in.

It's hardly a skyline, I guess I should have been more specific.  Growing up there, as a kid... the few taller buildings there got me interested in real estate development, architecture, basically the built environment.

Sure you're not thinking of Philadelphia? Pittsburgh is sort of at least four hours by train or car.
Nope, Pittsburgh. There is a mostly crushed gravel trail that requires no roads that goes from Pittsburgh right into K street in Georgetown. Five day ride. "Convenient" being a relative terms here.

Gotcha. That's why I didn't come down harshly. I know you've spent tons of time in D.C.

Never knew of that road.
