Let's Make a Super Bowl Halftime Show (1 Viewer)

I think we've run out of musical artists that appeal to the NFL demographic.
I think the NFL doesn't want to appeal to the NFL demographic with the halftime show. They want to appeal to the exact opposite because otherwise that group won't be tuning into the game. They hope to get them to tune it when they otherwise wouldn't.

Yeah I get the thought process but are there really like groups of girls watching golden bachelor reruns that all of a sudden tune into the halftime show for 20 minutes?

Not necessarily but there are girlfriends at Super Bowl Parties that will get excited about the half time show which helps allow the boyfriends not to get crap for spending six hours watching a football game. Couple that with commercials throughout that the non-football fans are waiting for you can get people tuning in. Or at least that is the theory.

I want the game so I have no idea of that theory works on non-game watchers.

I dont know what's true vs. fake on social media these days, but I saw a reel the other day on how In Living Color is what was behind the huge halftime shows we have today. In the early 90s they did a show during one of the halftime shows and it even had a countdown to let viewers know when to change the channel back. It got massive viewership, and the next year, the NFL got Michael Jackson for the first really big halftime show.

And I love how this choice is making the white man clutch his pearls in angst.
I mean, I just don't like alot of rap/hip hop. At the same time, if the entertainment was country or rock n roll the otherside that doesn't like country/rock n roll wouldn't be jazzed about it either. We all have different tastes and there's not anything wrong with that.

POST MALONE!!! Hip hop and country, with rock thrown in!

Definitely no segments of the population that would see the face tattoos and immediately dismiss him.

Seems like the NFL is looking for global appeal and younger demographics. Billie Eilish, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Shaboozy. Pick 2 to 3 and profit.

Most of the pearl clutching isn’t about the genre. It’s a factor, but not the main one causing the vapors.

Shaboozie.....country with a "twist"

I don't know what the NFL was thinking letting the Taylor Swift deal fall through. She is the most famous person on the planet. You would have people in every continent tuning in. Records would be smashed. Just give her what she wants.

oh. I don't know what it is then but just FMPOV I haven't enjoyed the halftime show in a long time and I think that a lot of people haven't since not everyone enjoys rap/hip hop.

I googled it. Supposedly, she declined because the nfl wouldn't let her own the rights to her performance. You may have got more people turning in to the halftime show but I don't think any of those people are going to sit there and watch a football game just because she's going to perform for 15 minutes. It's not (or highly unlikely) going to create new fans and I'm too sure if it would raise advertising by that much, if at all. I get it from her POV but it's also a little odd from the NFLs POV to not own part of your broadcast.

Headliner: Rage Against the Machine

Guest appearances:
- B-Real and Chuck D to do a Prophets of Rage song
- Killer Mike and El-P to do a RTJ song with Zach
- Chris Cornell hologram to do an Audioslave song

Now that’s how you make some heads explode.

Huh? It’s been pretty well shown that she’s created an entire new wave of NFL fans just showing up to Chiefs games and dating Kelce. Her doing the halftime show would be the biggest one since Michael. Neither party needs each other though as they’re two of the biggest brands in the world.

I guess maybe I don't get fandom then. I guess a "swiftie" could buy a chiefs ticket or a jersey or watch the game just to get a glance of TS and that's ultimately what matters right? Whether or not they are actually fans of football and will continue to watch football when the nfl finally lets Kelce retire in 15 years is debatable to me. It's entirely possible that new watchers could go "oh hey, I like this game!" or it's more of a copycat thing "oh TS likes football (I assume she does) so now I like football."

I've actually never even heard of Bad Kitty. Happy Kitty? Hello Kitty? Whatever. Maybe they just decide on 5 options. Then America votes on it. If not, maybe the Riverdance cast performs?

Obviously the worst team in the NFL won't be playing in the Super Bowl. Let's get that team vs the #1 ranked College Team to play during halftime.

Like when the pee-wees play during halftime of a varsity game.

I'm more than pleased with the Bad Bunny selection. Bonus points if Karol G., Becky G. or Natti Natasha make appearances. Latin hip-hop is at a high point right now
