Week one saw Jennings with 6 targets and 1 catch for 5 yards (Driver was targeted 11 times - 7rec for 96yds) at home against the stout Chicago defense.
Week 2 saw Jennings with 12 targets and 6 catches for 67yds and a TD (Driver was targeted 10 times - 8rec for 153yds) at home against New Orleans.
This week they go to Detroit, where Favre is famous for having not-so-great games.
The fact that Jennings was actually targeted more than Driver last week shows that Favre has some confidence in the rookie (perhaps not wanting to throw all the time into the double coverage that Driver gets), even though he only caught 50% of the passes his way...I dont know how many were bad or uncatchable balls, or if he had any drops...Furgeson has been targeted 9 times on the season so far, and the tight end trio of Martin, Franks and Lee have a combined 16 targets.
Point being that only 2 WRs in the NFL had more targets than Jennings last week - Galloway (17) and Holt (13). Jennings had as many targets as Chad Johnson, Coles, M Jones, Toomer, and Reggie Williams.
Favre will be inconsistant this year as he has shown lately, but when hes on his game, his WR2 is usually a good play (not counting last year when Walker went down, Green was hurt and they had no true WR2 to speak of). If Favre ends up with around 22-26tds this year (Im assuming a slight bump in TDs due to the fact that they have Green back, and came into the season prepared to work with what they have unlike last year when they were improvising the whole year), Jennings should have his share of those (Drivers career high is 9 which he did twice - in 2002 and 2004).
If Driver gets, say, 9 TDs this year, that would leave 13-16 TDs for other players (or more if Favre can get some of his form back). In 2005, Favre threw 20 TD passes - RBs had 2 TD receptions, WRs had 12, and TEs had 6. This year I could see the GB TEs getting maybe 5, RBs maybe 3, Driver 9ish, leaving 5-9 TDs going elsewhere (not counting the TDs he will throw to opposing teams). I think Jennings could snag 5-6, with Furgeson grabbing the leftover few. Yardage is another thing altogether and is harder to predict, but the 500-750 range seems attainable.
Im wondering what others are expecting for Favres rookie WR2 this year. I know he will be inconsistant being a rookie and all, but I think he could be a good play when the matchup is right. With Driver getting most of the attention from the defense, Jennings could be a nice WR3 this season when the matchup looks good, IMO.
