Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

I have a feeling watching Barkley is like watching Jim Brown in his prime.  Just a man amongst boys out there.

I still can't believe that happened.

Im not sure it wouldn't have been better for them to lose that game.

Saquon is ridiculous.

That was some slobbering commentary on McSorley at the end. :lmao:  **** Endberg's worship of John Elway was jealous.

I'll take the W.

It is scary to think though, Barkley had over 300 all purpose yards, the defense played pretty damn good, and we still needed a last second touchdown to pull it out. As great as Barkley is, we go as far as McSorley takes us.

Probably the 2nd most nerve racking game I've ever watched PSU play (the multiple OT game against Michigan still takes the cake).  Saquon Barkley is going to be an absolute monster in the NFL and should be the Heisman front runner now.  No. 1 player in dynasty drafts next season.

Just like Blair Thomas, Ki-Jana Carter, and Curtis Ennis did!
Yea but Michael Jordan, Sidney Crosby and Barry Bonds we're all great. These have the same amount of relevance.

Saquan has all the tools that make a back great in today's NFL.

SI ranks PSU "Most watchable team in Country". Would be nice to see Game Day come up to Happy Valley for Michigan game. Its been a while.

I hate ESPN with a passion but yeah it'd help with some more national exposure.  I would think that would be the game they'd go to.

McSorley has these mental lapses some times. It's ok against Indiana because they'll still win by 40. Can't do that against Michigan and OSU.

He impresses me as the kind of kid who might have let the pre-season hype go to his head a bit.

(This is the point in the season where I become a grumpy old man).

Quite a few things to clean up before Michigan and OSU.  Field goal unit is a mess.  Offensive line inconsistent, contributing to McSorley being inconsistent too.  Team has gotten away from RPO the past few weeks, making the offense more predictable and seeming to limit the big-play explosiveness we saw last year (other than what Barkley makes happen on his own).

Against the three teams we've played with a pulse, we've been under 375 yards of offense twice.  37 rushes for 39 yards yesterday with 5 sacks allowed.

Defense has been a pleasant surprise so far as has the rest of special teams other than the FG unit.  Gilliken is a difference-maker.

But I think we're going to need much more out of the offense to have the kind of season many are hoping for.

Another blowout but again the offense looks off. McSorley just doesn't seem that accurate and maybe he's always been that way but this year seems worse.

I think they miss Godwin more than people realize. They've got some tall receivers and Hamilton is a tough player, but they don't have that combination of height and strength that can go up and get a ball.  Johnson has the height, but needs some meat on his bones.  No Godwin/A. Robinson type is hurting the passing game a bit.

A bye week, and then the season starts.  Michigan's loss and Oklahoma losing after beating OSU hurts SOS.  But, this team controls their own destiny.  Win out and beat Wisconsin (presumably) in the Big Ten Championship and we're in.  A loss anywhere along the way and we're out.

Happy Valley is going to be electric next weekend.

  • GameDay is in town for the first time in 8 years
  • Highest ranking since before Y2K
  • White Out/night game
  • Likely crowd of >110k for the first time this decade
A truly national stage for the team and the conference.

For the glory!

Huge game and test for the offense.  I can see it being a pretty low scoring game unless Moorhead dials up some looks that he hasn't shown before.  I think Penn State will win but it's going to be pretty close.

We have to hope Franklin has been showing them film this whole bye week about how they're not good enough to coast on talent. This is the first of 3 huge weekends. Penn State will not be in the playoff with a loss I don't think. They need them all.

Yep, chances are slim if they lose to one and nill if two.  The defense will be the key to winning all three.  They're playing at a high level right now.  They should dominate Michigan but OSU and MSU will be big tests.  If this offense can start playing with more consistency I think they're unstoppable.

It's so weird because I can't remember a time when PSU and Eagles we're both really good at the same time. Just want this ride to keep going.

I don't remember them EVER being good at the sametime.  Maybe in '08 in McNabb's last hoorah to the NFC Championship game.  Think that is when they lost to USC with Sanchez at helm in the Rose Bowl.

But even then the Eagles snuck in to the playoffs and no one expected a championship from PSU. This is 2 teams with a legit shot at the title. I'm super pumped.
