Let's Talk Penn State Football (2 Viewers)

Still friggin really cool to read.  He probably won't become another Paterno but I hope Franklin sticks around for a long long time.
He's got a pretty straightforward path to the playoff every year. Beat OSU and whoever else is good in the B10 and you're odds are good to make it.

Yep....he just needs to start winning those games too.  The manner in the which they lost to OSU and Mich St. was god awful.

But you have to think if he won one of those games, they'd be in the playoff. Or at least would've been in the B10 title game. Then win that you're in at 12-1.

Agreed. Two losses by four points really, really hurts. Oh, what might’ve been.  :( :kicksrock:

Is Trace McSorley a pro prospect? I've seen him a few times this year, looks to be pretty accurate and a solid arm, but not sure if he's got the pro body and/or arm. Very impressive watching him though and another year of development......

I haven't seen any talk of his pro prospects and there has never been any discussion of him coming out after this year.  I think his size is the biggest knock against him.

He doesn't have the prototypical NFL stature or arm strength but that dude has accuracy, smarts, athleticism and he is a freaking gamer with a ton of moxie.   I'm a UW fan and hoped they'd be better but I knew McSorley was going to be a killer today and be the difference.  Great game.  Final score doesn't reflect the PSU dominance.

Not NFL starting QB.   Maybe a backup for a couple of years.

no

I have NEVER considered McScorley a pro prospect.   Until last night.  I find it interesting to see posts wondering the same thing.

One thing I keep in mind is... who would have ever thought McGloin would play in the NFL?  And yet he beat out Tyrell Pryor for the backup job in Oakland.

I was impressed with McSwirley last night.  He convinced me that he might have a legit shot.  I was impressed with his accuracy.

I also was impressed with his accuracy and his overall command of the offense. Again, not sure if he has a NFL arm/body, but, at least to finish the season, thought he made a strong impression. I'll be interested to see how he stacks up vs. other QB's next season.

I mean Hackenberg is on a roster. McSorley will be too. For whatever that's worth. I guess $500k to $2m a year. So more power to him while he can get it.

I read an article that said he throws a very "catchable ball"... I think that's just a nice way of saying he has a weak arm, though.

Per Audrey Snyder of DKPittsburgh sports, Penn State finalized it's OOC schedule for 2020. Surprise, surprise   Pitt's not on it. They filled the other two slots around at Virginia Tech with those powerhouses Nevada and San Jose State.

Upcoming OOC

2018 - Appalachian State, @ Pitt, Kent State

2019 - Idaho, Buffalo, Pitt

2020 - Nevada, @ Virginia Tech, San Jose State

2021 - Ball State, Auburn, TBD

2022 - TBD, @ Auburn, TBD

2023 - West Virginia, TBD, TBD

2024 - @ West Virginia, Bowling Green, TBD

2025 - Virginia Tech

Franklin at B1G Media day

One thing I will wholeheartedly agree with Franklin on is NO FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES! Egad, we have one at Illinois. I'm glad he guaranteed that he won't host one. If UMD, Indiana, or one of the other rum-dumb members of B1G want to do Friday Night Lights, let 'em. Friday nights in PA are reserved for HS football.

The Pitt game will be in prime time. The game is a sellout. Those Panther fans are so proud of themselves. It’ll be a PSU home away from home game. :coffee:

Ugh.  The offense just can't seem to find a rhythm.  They need to run Sanders more.  He's running well.

I know, I know....it's less than a half into the first game, but Franklin seems to have a tendency to want to highlight his Heisman hopeful.  He did it almost to a fault with Barkley last year.

I may also be drinking and rambling.

Nah, fam. The defense is on point. The offense sucks.

The QB for App St is a baller.  He played a nice game.

O-line was not good.  Secondary was not good.

More Slade please.
