License Plate - It's Driving Me Nuts (1 Viewer)

Saw this today: FST HLNR

It was on a brand new, sharp BMW coupe. Guy behind the wheel was well-dressed and talking on a Bluetooth.

What does that plate mean?

HLNR could refer to the shifter.

If that's the case it sounds pretty idiotic. Oh I didn't realize the BMW was a fast car lucky he put it on his license plate so I know.

What is an HLNR shifter? I've never heard of it.
I think it is High Low Neutral Reverse. I guess he doesn't like to drive it out of the lower gears, or D and P didn't fit.
Oh good lord, I hope this is not the answer.

From the acronym dictionary

HLNR - Hac Lege Nihil Rogatur (Latin: Everything Falls Under This Law, epigraphy)

Would an HLNR shifyer be something that the would put in a BMW? Googling seems to suggest that it's mostly a transmission on tractors and farm equipment.

Maybe the first word is Faust, indicating that he sold his soul to the Devil? Maybe somehow connected to Helen Reddy's success?

This is actually pretty solid shtick.

Come up with an ambiguous custom license plate that will make people try to figure it out and spend all day trying to think of what it could possibly be. They won't be able to get it out of their head. They'll ask friends and coworkers. They'll post about it on message boards. It will keep them up all night thinking about what it REALLY meant.

You, however, will get the last laugh.

Hooked.

Was it a dude or a woman?

If a woman Fast Helen R is probably the real answer.

I once had a (non-custom) license plate that could be interpreted as "Stuff 2 In"

Fast Learner with an extra H

A lot of those BMW pricks smugly drive their cars with an air of superiority.

I'd say that applies more to Mercedes.

There are a lot more younger guys driving BMW who just drive like maniacs anyway, but if you want to talk about dooshy people in their 40s+ who should know better, Mercedes beats them all

Child, please.

There's a reason one of the most hackneyed jokes of all time continues to persist:

What's the difference between BMWs and porcupines?
