Team Smokin'

Footballguy
Team Smokin' (our team) has been putting up some big numbers this year. I credit football guys by following their draft order lead. I also believe that many other owners pick popular "well-liked household name" players first, thereby leaving excellent value to be scooped up. For instance, we got Darren McFadden in the third round, no one wanted him. Well, here's our starting team this year. We start 3 WR/TE - doesn't matter.

QB - RODGERS - only Brady looks to be challenging for top QB

RB - McCoy - a top 3 RB so far

RB - McFadden - ditto

WR - Austin / Finley - monster games

TE - Gronkowski - a gut feeling on this one (pulled the trigger before he went crazy)

WR - St. Johnson - again no one bit on him except our team

K - Hanson - they laughed at us in the draft

D/ST - Baltimore - we'll see

Good luck & have fun!

A toot your own horn/gloating thread. I like it.

.5 PPR, 1 point per 20 yards rushing/passing, 1 point per 50 yards passing, 6 points all TDS, decimal scoring, 14-team Hometown 3 Keeper League

start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DEF

QB: Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler

RB: Adrian Peterson, Jahvid Best, Ryan Mathews, Beanie Wells

WR: Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Marques Colston, David Nelson, Devery Henderson

TE: Marcades Lewis, Ed Dickson

K: John Kasay

DEF: New Orleans

bold - keeper

I also drafted Eric Decker and Denarius Moore but due to Colston's injury (i.e. Henderson pickup), uncertainty at TE, and my own stupidity I cut them both and was unable to get either one back. This is actually my 7th year in this league but I've only made the playoffs once (6 teams make the playoffs). I've made some dumb choices some years such as taking Michael Crabtree and C.J. Spiller with my first two picks last year.

Hang in there runner06 Stafford to Calvin is huge. Don't see this as slowing you down. Sorry about your injuries, yet every team has some. Yep, we live and learn with our drops and adds. What other strategies are you contemplating to improve your team?

No you haven't bulldawg! No such thing as a jinx. I don't see it as bragging, simply appreciating gratitude. Smile and go with the flow ~ it's the way of The Universe. You must of gone Rice, McFadden with your first two picks. And both of them are top 4 RB overall. That helps :) . Gronk has been spectacular. He might get 10-12 TD or more, wow! Lots of football left. Have fun!

Yes, and Jackson Buffalo - you're stacked. I wonder how you could improve your team even better?

I don't like my team, but i started 3-0 despite being in the lower half of scoring. I am starting big ben and s. greene... :yuck:

Well, I may try to trade for a top 5 TE at some point if Marcades Lewis doesn't get it going in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Don't really see anything else that needs upgraded though I suppose I could always try to upgrade my 3rd WR spot. However, since this is a 3 keep league, the only way to upgrade Colston is to trade for a keeper worthy WR (for other teams) which would probably be very difficult since you have to keep at least 2 players every year in this league. By the way for the person who said there is a pinned thread every week for this sort of thing, what is it called? I'm not questioning you, I've just been visiting these forums for a few years and have never seen it. Then again I don't pay much attention to the pinned threads ever.

Nobody cares about that team you had that one time. Let me tell you about a bad beat I had in a poker game last night....

OK, I realize you started this thread to brag about your team and therefore I'd really like to knock you down a bit ;) ....but I have to admit that you had a "perfect draft." Injuries and the possibility of an out-of-the-blue bad week in the playoffs are the only thing I see that could slow you down. Congrats.

Agreed - you may seek to upgrade your QB and trade with another owner who is solid with two decent QB's - you are very deep at WR. Matty Ice will pick it up. You'll be in the hunt!

Thanks Morton - I really am not seeking to come across as bragging - just extremely grateful for this team at this moment in time. I am very optimistic. I also wanted to make the point about the overall draft too. Some players don't seem to get the love and get passed by. Every other year we have to fight tooth and nail to find a couple or a few players who we hope will produce down the stretch. Lot of golf left

I believe you'll be in the hunt Teef. Losing Manning is a set back, yet Fitzpatrick as been a pleasant surprise. RB's not really that deep for bye weeks and who's better Lloyd or Decker? Who to start?
