Likely Outcomes for Jerry Porter? (1 Viewer)

Are Davis and Shell vindictive enough to sit him for the season? Will he be a #3/4 WR for the Raiders? Or is he likely to get out of the doghouse and opposite Moss at some point? Was betting on Option C a week ago, now I'm not so sure.

I'm curious on this as well. He got a $4 million bonus this year, so I cant see them sitting him, or even having a $4 million+ #3 WR.

But if he is #3 that means Gabriel's value takes a big jump.

Shell is an old-school kind of guy, and I don't think Porter will get his job back unless he buckles down and earns it. Whether he will is the magic question. Based on the reports that Oakland is really not trying to trade him, even though he is officially on the block, I suspect that the door for his return to the lineup is open, but he will not take the job until a few weeks into the regular season.

Well, it isn't the most likely outcome, but I vote being struck by lightening. What a wasted opportunity for a young guy with so much talent to play opposite Moss and learn from a guy like Belitnikoff. Who knows what happens if Porter is in camp and not bellyaching from day 1.

But I digress.

I think the most likely outcome is a test of wills. And Shell wins.

Porter will continue to hold out through pre-season and want to return for the start of the season. Sure, the $4 million in guarnteed is nice, but if he has any hopes of being traded, he is going to have to come out and play this year. And play well. And make it however long his season is without getting hurt.

If he sits out, his value is gonna be crapola in 2007. No, I think he skulks back and Shell sits him down. IF he can adjust his attitude right quick, he can be a factor in the offense. But by then, getting on the same page as Brooks and the offense is gonna be tricky, at best.

Like I said, I vote for lightning.

He's not actually holding out though, right? He's there, he's practicing, he got into the most recent pre-season game.

I thought he just pissed Shell off and asked to be traded. What exactly are the Raiders asking him to do that he isn't doing at this point?
