LJ/Chiefs "toast" talk way premature (1 Viewer)

OK, so he got 120+, ackowledging that a bunch came on the last carry. It's not about the yards.

It's about the offense. The addition of Bowe is making EVERYONE better. Frees it up for Gonzalez, and for Kennison when he returns. On top of that, LJ was getting many of his 4 yard carries, and it's only a matter of time before he breaks 'em. Several 10 yard runs, and 1 real good gain called back with holding. Most importantly, this team is in the thick of the division race, with a fairly soft schedule coming up. Defense playing well as well. They should be in most games all year, and will only get better.

So did LJ look pretty good?
Let's just put it this way... Buy Low on Johnson Window is closing.
 Especially considering LT's struggles, Jacobs, SJax, and Cadillac going down, and the overall disappointing performance of many RBs thus far, LJ meeting last year's numbers the rest of the way would be HUGE.

He has a great schedule coming up, a little momentum building, and the offense is starting to click with Huard, Gonzo and Bowe. Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have LJ get 25 of 26 carries! There are so many RBBCs that LJ's potential the rest of the way seems too high to let go of.

Wow, so one garbage-time run with seconds left in the game elevates a guy from another sup 4ypc no-TD game that would certainly have evoked more "is the mid-season LJ buy strategy still worth it?" threads to "the buy window on LJ is almost closed!!!" threads?

I think you totally ignored the original post. But hey - go ahead and sell him if he's on your roster..

I'm a Herm-supporter, but (this year at least) KC-hater. And this game was the second biggest low point over the last two years(after the NE game). You deserve your props KC fans, you fought tooth and nail all summer and we all rolled out eyes. Your team was by far the better team today. If Edwards takes this team to the playoffs he should be in coach-of-the-year discussions. I've gone on record saying he should have won it last season.

Chiefs fan here, and I've been defending them like CRAZY since last year. I got to serve a lil crow today, to a Philly fan no less. I'm not usually a homer and I'm not saying they are great, but I get sick of the "worst team in football" garbage. I predicted 9-7 before the year and I think that will be close. Their schedule is brutal this year, especially the first half, but they'll be a solid team. The D-Bowe Show is friggin awesome. I've never seen talent like that at WR in KC, granted that is not saying much. I can't wait till Kennison gets back. Bowe Show, Kennison, Gonzo, and LJ are gonna cause some issues for the defense, if Herm can be imaginative enough to use them....

Oh, and I landed LJ in a trade earlier in the week. :goodposting:

It's not the stats. It's the touches (28), the way he looked, his health, and the overall situation. We know he has the ability - that's not a question. We know the schedule gets a LOT easier from a running standpoint. We know the offense is getting better and more balanced, leading to more opportunities.Go ahead and sell, but the Chiefs situation is honestly so much better than I thought it would be after week 1 or 2.

dont know if it has been said, but KC gets 4/5 @ home now....and with their DEF should be favored in each home game.
I guess I just passed the litmus test... still a haterJAXCINGBDENYou think they will be favored in all those games?
I can't say that KC will be favored, but they are an upgraded team at home for sure, as much as any NFL team. And as for those games, JAX, CIN, and DEN are teams to RUN against. Sounds good to me.

Herm and my Chiefs (now) play to keep it close, steal it at the end ...

This may bring you a handful of wins but they will not be consistent ... they will be found pretty much only when you win the turnover battle like today ...

But hey, I'll take the win at SD regardless ... just cant see consistent success on the horizon ...

I think this should slow down the "Chiefs are the worst team in the NFL" talk, but then again...both teams I thought were the worst (ATL & BUF) won today, so I don't know crap.

What a crazy weekend in football...first all of the NCAA upsets and then the crazy NFL weekend. Only thing left is for Cincy to beat New England tomorrow night.

C'mon Ocho Cinco...light up the Pats!!!!!!!!!!

that was exciting to see those chiefs go in and punch the chargers in the throat (i'm not sure why, but i hate the chargers)

good for herm.

You dont know the Chiefs like I do....they played well at home in the 80's when they went 6-10 every year....lots of time, they would be over .500 at home.Like it or not, and most people choose the "not", KC (regardless of how good their team is) plays well at home 90% of the time. Coaches and QBs making their first appearance in Arrowhead are something like 4-26 since 1990. This applies to Cutler, McCarthy, and later in the season, Vince Young. The only game of that quartet that I kinda doubt is the CIN game, but that has a revenge factor to it.

Ran just like last year. You won't get Vermiel regime production - but you should get last year's PPG average out of LJ the rest of the way.
the AFC West has some of the weakest defenses in the NFL this season! LJ will stomp all over them! and, his week 15 matchup vs. Detroit, is flat-out juicy!
