LJ Smith has hernia surgery (1 Viewer)

LJ Smith recently had surgery to correct a sports hernia. What effect does this have on his value this year?

i heard this was supposed to be fixed up by training camp. IF that's the case, by the time the season starts he'll definitely be 100%.

That's what is said. I do remember Shawn Springs having this last year though, and it seemed to linger all season for him.

IIRC Heath Miller had this surgery leading in to the 2005 draft which is why his stock dropped. He was ready to roll in preseason that year.

Yes, it must be bad enough so he can't wait until after the season. He could be ready in 2 months as they have said, but doing it now has to be risky. These injuries often linger.

It's usually an 8-10 week recovery period with proper rehab. As others have noted, Smith should be fine for the start of the season, but might be limited in camp. Hernias can be funny things, though, and setbacks can happen.
